prezzies in the mail

Ooh, pretty. I got a prezzie in the mail today (from my hubby, who only found out after the fact ba ha ha ha). On Quilts and Pieces' Dawn's recommendation I ordered the "Quilts from the Henry Ford" book she was raving about. Yup, great pics of antique quilts, inc 12 full-page photos of Susan McCord quilts. Susan McCord did that great strippy quilt of vines with string-pieced leaves and buds that is just awe-inspiring. So the book is worth it just for the pics of the antiques and the historical overview, even if you don't care at all about the instructions to make them. Thank you, Dawn.

I also got some fabric I ordered. Fun penguins skiing and ice skating. (I'd have bought more if I'd known how much I'd like it. Don't suppose it's too late.) And some gorgeous batiks from Bali Fabrications - I love love love their fabric.

RE my earlier post, I found a quick and dirty Picasa tutorial that may give you an idea of what you can do with Picasa once you have it. [Hope that helps, Finn.]

Tonya, you might enjoy my photos of some of the Susan McCord quilts-- they're in the Quilting Genius album on yahoo at:

I loved that Susan was a dabbler, like me, and made many types of quilts.

There are also photos of other wonderful quilts from the Henry Ford collection from that exhibit, taken at the opening.

I love the stories behind old quilts. I think that's why I keep returning to the Australian Quilt Register site.

It's it fun to imagine someone sitting and stitching the quilts?

Thanks for the tip on the book. I'm off to look it up.
