More Crowns

I've made three more Crown of Thorn blocks from shirting fabrics - for a total of seven. I'm not sure if the ones with red will stay in - they seem so much darker than the other blocks. Since I don't actually have a plan, they might work or they might not.

I'd have gotten more done if I didn't have to do boring stuff like piecing a backing for a quilt. I know I could just buy fabric for that, but I'm ready to move older fabric out of my stash. Pokey was ever so helpful in the process.

Must wrestle fabric into submission:

Here she is, ready to pounce on another square of fabric:

Anyway, sewing hasn't been the highest priority. Instead I've been putting in time on the book. I was amazed to discover that Word Play Quilts is already on The Patchwork Place website. Holy cow! We now have a date for it too, December 7th. fingers crossed. I'm feeling like a real author.

Okay, I know I have lots more to tell you, but the Tour de France has finally hit the Alps. I've gotta go cheer Lance on.

Ya'all take care.

Love the plaids. Leave it to you to introduce the rest of us to something really cool to do. My daughter in laws mother gave me a box of fabric and I think there are some plaids in that box. Hmm, maybe I will pull them out this afternoon.

The Crown of Thorns blocks are great. You took a static design and made it dance. The shirt thing has been popular lately, but I have resisted so far.
I like the crown of thorns blocks with the love/live blocks as they are a perfect counterpoint to them.

I hope you leave the red in--it makes everything pop. And I love the book cover. It really makes me want to see the inside of the book. Best of luck.

I like your blocks, Tonya....the red keeps my eye moving. I had to laugh at your kitty playing with the blocks. My new kitten did the exact same thing the other night when I was laying out blocks on the floor. He had the best time! It must be inborn!! Congrats on the book....I'll be wanting to get one for myself and one for my guild library.

Girl, you are soooo creative. Whoever thought that shirt plaids were "appropriate" for this block - they are absolutely wonderful! Perfect choice from the "Unruly Quilter".

Yes, I'm standing in the queue, waiting for your book!

I like the red one too! It will be great to see what plan emerges from this fun play you've had with the clothing industry :)

Pokey seems to be keeping her fabric hunting skills sharpened just fine.

Looking forward to your book publishing date! Very exciting.

The reds are a great addition! Of course I'd say that, since red is my favorite color. But, really, they add dimension and contrast.

The book is super exciting!!
