News from Paris

My husband is slowly getting settled in Paris. Right now he's in a big, empty apartment with no phone, no internet, and no tv. But it's a gorgeous apartment and that counts for a lot. He has an incredible 20 minute walk to work, passing by Cleopatra's Needle (an actual obelisk from Egypt - how appropriate is that?) and seeing the Eiffel Tower. Our belongings from Cairo are supposed to be delivered next week, so things are progressing smoothly at that end.

The cats are doing well here. I usually have a terrible time photographing Howler, but he's been unusually photogenic in this light. If only I could get Lily to stop scratching at the mirrors and cheeping (she doesn't have a meow).

Met my new endocrinologist yesterday and now I tests I have to take, inc an echocardiogram because he heard something screwy with my heart. Sigh. If it's not one thing it's another thing. I didn't realize I had to go off the thyroid meds for 2 weeks before my whole body scan - I hope I don't get too fruitloopy. I'm going to try and reschedule the scan so that I'm not too whacked out during Bonnie's visit.

So today I'm off to the library to pick up some books to carry me through the holidays. I read Monster Island by David Wellington which was okay, but not fabulous. It's a zombie novel that the author serialized online and ended up getting a publishing deal that way. If you need a zombie fix watch "Shaun of the Dead" instead.

Hi Tonya,

I love the picture of your kitty. How do you keep them from climbing your Christmas tree???

I know that this is not the jolliest of times for you but I want you to know that you are in my thoughts! Hang in there!!

What a wonderful picture of Howler!! Like looking at my Homer Kitty. :D Man, I hate that you're having to do more tests but hopefully you'll know just what you're dealing with the end of them. I saw the endocrinologist I think week before last...my mass has not gone down any, the blood levels are still way high, and he doubled the beta blocker for the heart arrythmia. I see him again Jan. 10 to see where we go from here. He's indicated that he'll probably be sending me to a cardiologist...and probably doing the radiation again...girl, you are most definitely on my mind and in my prayers! In spite of, Merry Christmas and wishes for a much more fun and joyful, warm, quilty NEW Year!!

I think Howler needs a red santa cap on his head, under the tree there. :) A little red cat-sized one.

Have you read any of Charlaine Harris' novels? She's got some funny modern day vampire books, with a gutsy female main character I think you'd like. After I discovered her vampire books, I went back and read some of the earlier, more traditional mysteries she'd written and I liked them too.

Take care of yourself... and hope the tests aren't so bad!

A very serene kitty under the tree! Hope you are doing OK. It's probably not the way you would have wished to pass the holidays, but try to find the positives...

If you run across "The Good Good Pig" by Sy Montomgery you should check it out. It is great!

How great to walk to work passing those things in Paris! The stuff of dreams - you'll be there before too long! My 16 year old loves Shaun of the Dead, said it was very funny but there was heaps of swearing in it.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hopefully your thyroid/heart stuff will be sorted very soon. At least you've got Bonnie's visit to take the blues away :-)

Shaun of the Dead was hilarious and I hate zombies. They scare me to death. I am wishing you excellent results from all the tests and a speedy remove to Paris to join your husband. It doesn't hurt to hope positively. Hope you and the kitties have a wonderful Christmas.

going off the meds is not fun - I was in graduate school the first time and I had a weekend class on days 11 and 12. Had to get my husband to drive me there and took a nap a lunch both days.
your apartment sounds wonderful - how great to have that waiting for you at the end of this side journey

What a great picture of Howler..! I see a lot of body shape similiarity to Ebby, but he's one big cat!!
Glad he's aclimated so well. Hopefully Lily will also. I know the chirping can drive you nuts, my black beauty does alot of that...she has an opinion about everything.
Sorry to hear of the test delay. Hopefully the time will go fast, and you'll soon be up, up and away..*VBS* Big hugs, Finn

What a great picture of Ebby. Don't envy the drop in meds at all, my doc never believed in that, but I think most do it that way. Tell them to stop finding things until you can get cleared for Paris and then they can find whatever they want over there!!
