aiyee

First off, sorry, Sharon. Certainly didn't mean to leave you out. Take a look all at Sharon's Happy Jack's Pumpkin Patch for another marvelous example of wonky letters. I definitely need to take better notes for myself on what I want to put in the blog.

I've sewn together all my blocks. This a quickie to show you how I added the sashing with cornerstones. The little orange block at the end of the strip. Attach and whack off the extra. You don't really expect me to measure all those different block sizes do you?

Here are all the blocks, sashed and cut to the same size (which was the smallest block) of 6 and 1/8". I like measuring on the 1/8" since my ruler has thinner lines there and I find it easier to use. At this point, I was really happy with the blocks.

Not quite as crazy about them after I sewed them together tho. I thought that a narrow sash of an inch here and there would be okay, but looking at it after, no, it would have been better at least a 1/2" bigger. Think it would have given the blocks more space to breath. Since I'm not undoing it, I just gotta learn that lesson for the next time.

I sewed all these blocks together and then added a 1" finished red border fabric to the top and left side. And then it needed something else, so it's surrounded by a 1.5" finished orange border. And that's where the top is right now.

I have a bit of purple that I'd love to use as the border, but not enough of it. I don't want to wait around until I can get some more in the mail, and besides, this hand-dye is the same color, just a tad darker:

The color is a bit dark in the above photo. this detail shot is more accurate:

I'm going to live with it for awhile before I sew on this final border.

This is my "sewing room" by the way. The dining area in what would be called the great room in the states but in Egypt is called the reception. And yes, my design sheet is on the wall where a quilt would normally go, such as the blue and white houses.

Wore my baby Pokey out.

I've had a nasty headache the last few days - it starts in my neck and radiates from there. And lower backache. I'm such an idiot I finally realized why I have it. I ran out of my wonderful anti-inflammatory (Voltaren) last week while I was sick and haven't run to the pharmacy to get more. I've been on the anti-inflammatories of one type or another for almost a year. Stupid knee (it's giving me a twinge now and then but hasn't blown up).

It was so marvelous living without this pain that I'd forgotten about it. Stupid Ankylosing Spondylitis. Even without a definitive diagnosis I so know I have it.

I watched a couple of movies recently. "Red Eye" was okay but I was expecting a lot more suspense since it's directed by Wes Craven. And the stupid woman ran right into the trouble at the end. The other movie was "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" which was enjoyable but I was hoping for much more. Good music and I appreciated the homage to Buckaroo Bonzai in the end credits.

Oh, I like the purple VERY much! I takes what is a very fiery center and just contains it and defines it some how...almost calms it down just a touch. Perfect to me. I like the size too, just that big.

You know I never thought to do sashing like that...duh! It seems so much simplier than sewing all the bottoms on and making columns. Then having the long sashes and corner stones to sew to the whole long column. I like your way much better!! Even when you need them to be a certain size. Whacking, of course, is all the much better yet!

The mailman just rang and brought my Gwen Marston book!!! Aiyee!!! Happy Day!! Thanks again for the tip!

Evidently your getting absorbed in making/creating the "Love" quilt helped you escape from pain. The escape of getting lost in the process is one of my methods for handling the pain of fibromyalgia. I do hope you've gotten to the pharmacy and are feeling better. I love the whimsey and humor in your style and color choices.

Love the LOVE! When you see the sashing from a distance (like your shot of your design sheet), it looks like the perfect size. Don't regret your sashing size. Much bigger and it would have made the quilt a lot redder than it is.

The purple border is great. More color choices that I would NEVER think to make.

Any thoughts on the quilting yet?

Boy, everyone else in blogland is so much faster than I am. It amazes me how fast this LOVE quilt of yours has come together.

I really like the purple for the border, great choice and one I would have never thought of. I liked the movie "The Life Aquatic" also. The rest in my family did not, but it suited my strange sense of humor.

There just isn't enought purple in the world! I like how it actually calms the quilt a bit...how crazy does that sound! Take care of the knee and the head!

Tonya it's looking just LOVEly! THe purple border is an inspired choice. It's looking great.

Totally agree with you on "Red Eye". And I find Ciaran whatsisname too gorgeous to take him seriously as a baddie!

The "Life Acquatic" was good, but I too expected more. I loved "Lost in Translation" - it's my favourite of the many good Bill Murray films (and there are quite a few to choose from).

I haven't seen either of the movies - but like you, dislike how stupid they make women sometimes. I'm bad at telling them "No! Doooooon't get out of the car, you idiot, lock your doors and drive away!" or else, "Ohhh, he's lying, don't trust him, remember the last time... "

I like the way the love blocks have turned out - reminds me of looking out a window into a wildfire, the picture you see the whole thing.

I really LOVE your colour combinations! The cool but striking purple border goes perfectly with the hot-coloured blocks.

Ooh, I really like the purple border on this quilt. I too wouldn't have thought to use it, but it makes the quilt.
