More Montmartre

Good thing my friends wanted to visit Montmartre, since that is one area I know how to navigate. Montmartre is definitely built on a hill, there are lots of stairs.

We climbed up bunches of steps on our way to the Sacre Couer Basilica. Looking down at terraced gardens and steps:

Looking up at the Basilica, with more steps to go:

The gargoyles are always a draw for me:

My sweetie and I recently watched the episode of the Sopranos where Carmela and Rosalie visit Paris. It was a hoot to recognize places that I've seen as well as one museum that is on my list to go to (the Museum of the Middle Ages).

I've gotten more work done on my thready, which I'm now thinking of as Mardi Gras due to a comment (sorry I can't remember whose, I have a little brain).

We're supposed to have a beautiful sunny day here today, so our goal is to ride the ferris wheel at the fete (fair) near the Louvre.

Beautiful pictures of Montmartre and Sacre Coeur. Question. Facing the Basilica, turning to the right and then walking down flights of steps to street level, there used to be one of the last toilets with the gardienne, fresh towels and beautifully polished brass etc, and the very special lemon shaped soap. Wonder if it is still there or has been replaced by one of those ghastly Euro in the slot and try to get out before you get soaked ones which always seem to be en panne. Have a fun day and lets see some pictures from the ferris wheel.

Your thread piece is lovely. Hope to see a picture of the ferris wheel and SCADS of pictures when you get to the Museum of the Middle Ages, how glorious that will be!

Just love it when you post about your thready projects. I thought of them and you often as we toured in the UK - all those tapestries and stichery.

I am enjoying your pictures of Paris very much. Did you check on the artists doing portraits in the square near the Sacre Coeur?
The thready is very nice.

Oh, I love that first picture today with the tall buildings and window boxes of flowers.
Your thready has taken on a third dimension with the chunky, bumpy yarns. It is totally different than the others and very exiting. It's too bad we can't touch them over the internet. This one looks so soft.

I love the lime green in your thready -- it really pops against the other colors.

Do you mean the Musee de Cluny? It's one of my favorites! Once upon a time I was a medieval historian, and I still am fascinated by that stuff.

It's so much fun to see a city with visiting friends -- have a great week!

Fun trip to Sacre Coure and Monmartre -- and the thready is looking lovely! Mardi Gras is a great name for it -- and what great texture!
