busy busy

When I showed you the pic of the entrance to my apartment, you couldn't see the left side of the quilt very well. These are a couple of my evil eye protection charms that hang from the hook on that side.

I spent the last two days helping a friend with her packout. Whew, glad that's over, at least for now. The first day I helped her with the organization and I'm ruthless about throwing out expired foods, meds etc. Yesterday I was there to help keep track of what was going in what box while eight different packers went at it.

One of the men was a sweetie - 85 years old, hard of hearing, one tooth and really good at packing the big furniture items. The men all looked out for him and carried the heavy items for him. I sure hope I don't have to work that hard if I make it to that age. Heck, I don't want to work that hard ever.

And speaking of work, that's actually what I should be doing. Gotta go pack my quilts and fabric, and definitely toss more unneeded items out. So no more procrastinating from me. I'll be scarce online for the next week or so. Ya'all take care.

Hope your own packing goes as well as your friend's. Maybe you'll get the octogenarian too when the time comes!

Bon courage Tonya et bonne chance!

Just out of interest, will you unpack when you reach the States, or does everything stay in store until you get to Paris?

Not a fun propect for you but I guess it's getting to the time when denial will work no longer. I remember the last time we moved. I stayed firmly in denial until the day before the packers arrived. That was probably too long.

I'm still throwing out from the past move (19 years) and preparing for the next (2 years?) Don't work too hard.

Too bad all your blogger friends can't pop in and help you. Of course it would be so crowded it would probably turn into a big party and you would just have a big mess to clean up! I hope it all goes as painlessly as is possible with packing.

Hey Ton, I know I only speak for me, but I'm going to say "we all understand" what need to happen over the next week or so.
Please do touch base with us as some point, so we know how it's going.
I feel like you are on the gurney, headed into surgery, and I just get to sit in the waiting room..*S* Do pardon that old "mom" thing in me..*S* I will be soooo thrilled and delighted when your feet(and the paws) hit the good ole USA's soil again!!!

Love the evil eyes...way cool! Hugs, Finn

Love the evil eyes. When I first started my job with the company I am with in 1997 one of the hispanic girls accused another of giving her the evil eye. It was very upsetting to both of them to the point that one quit her job over it. I had never heard of the evil eye before this but now know that there are those who truly believe in it!

Well, dang, my comment from this morning didn't post. And it was brilliant, too....

My X's and O's in technicolor are up over at Force Majeure. :-)

Bon Voyage!

At least you've had some practice packing! Good luck Ton

Now you have the practice you need to start your own packing. LOL!

BTW, I have a favor to ask and all the details are on my most recent post on my blog about Flat Stanley. Since you are in a completely seperate (but cool) country I was wondering if you would be able to participate.

Are the cats getting more and more nervous as things disappear into boxes?

Good luck with the final packing!

Packing is no fun. I helped my parents move out of their home of 49 years earlier this summer and you wouldn't believe the stuff we found! I came home and started decluttering our small place and I still feel like I should do more!

Good luck with your move.

I've been caught up in the harvest- only a couple more weeks until complete collapse. I've been enjoying your last fleeting glances of Egypt- wanting to see how that Batik back came together for you- love the rich colors. Happy packing. When we move, I look at each thing that I pick up- "Do I really want to drag this all the way to..." Makes me pare down repectably. Hope you get all of your favorite things stashed away. It'll be like Xmas then, when you arrive in Paris. Stay strong!
