Cat Fabric

I continue to play around on my new Mac. I soooo should have taken my external hard drive to the Apple Store and had them move everything over onto the Mac. Trying to get all of my windows-based music up and running. After a couple of software downloads I HOPE I've finally got that working. And did I tell you that I'd managed to download about 5 duplicates (if not more) of each of my photographs onto the hard drive when I was in Paris and then onto the Mac when I got here. I'm not even sure if I'm deleting them off the hard drive or just off of Picasa... Trial and error.

Anyway, I had some queries from the last post about fabric. So here's Habibi being a pretty good sport about getting fussed with, as compared to Howler who bolted. This is 2007 Cat's Meow by RJR.

I fell in love with the one-eyed monster the moment I saw him on this fabric, though quite honestly don't love the entire thing. That's when I have to remember that I cut it up into little bits and it will look quite different. This is Wild Things by May &... - sorry, that's all the title that was on the fat quarter. I asked at JaMPatch where I bought it and they said it's a few years old. I did an item search on quiltshops.com (a great tool when you're looking for a specific fabric) but had no luck.

Speaking of JaMPatch, I went over on Wednesday and helped the owners with their new blog. That was a lot of fun. I don't know if quilt shows ever have a room of computers that are hooked into the internet, but it would be fun to teach blogging there to get even more quilters involved. Maybe folks would have to bring their laptops and we'd meet at a coffeeshop with wi-fi...

Since I had the camera out, here are a couple more kitty pics for you. First is Pokey sitting on the back of Raspberry Rumspringa. I thread basted this one because I didn't want to lose any space in my suitcase to all those safety pins.

Lily sleeping in her cat carrier. Obviously no trauma associated with being stuffed into this for a long flight, multiple times. Howler also sleeps in these, which is pretty funny given his bulk. I think they feel safe since they can only be approached from the front.

What else is going on with me. Lots and lots of tv watching and hand quilting on Raspberry Rumspringa. That's no surprise really - when I'm a bit stressed out that's my favorite activity in the world. Okay, even when I'm not stressed.... The rest of the post is going to be about tv so feel free to bail out now.

I finished season one of Chuck. I really adore that show about the guy who has all sorts of government secrets downloaded into his brain. It's so much goofy fun with spy action, romance, friendship, family. Kind of a less serious Alias. I adore the characters and enjoy spending time with them. And hey, that was Marshall as a bad guy!

Also watched all of Wonderfalls, which I also enjoyed and am sorry there are only a few episodes. At least they had a chance to kinda tie things up at the end, so it felt complete. It's another one of Bryan Fuller's shows and I definitely prefer Pushing Daisies (of course) and Dead Like Me. The latter has a straight-to-DVD movie coming out soon, I'm hoping for the best.

I tried Fringe, but decided I need to watch these from the beginning. Watched a commercial for Lie to Me and didn't even try it. Watched one episode of The Mentalist and felt so-so about it. I liked the main character well enough but hated all the young, overly attractive agents he's working with. Pulease. Put him in a show like Columbo where he's solving crimes on his own and I might make this one a habit.

The first episode of Trust Me was okay about two friends in the crazy world of advertising. There are bits of it I liked but they are kidding about the "You can do it with one hand" tagline for the cellular phone company, right? That one is an instant dirty joke waiting to be mocked.

Finally saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. sigh. Wanted to like it a lot more than I did. Seemed like they were just going through the motions rather than enjoying themselves. And somewhere along the way I just really started disliking Harrison Ford. Not his old movies mind, but everything he's done since the 1980's. The last movie he made that I really enjoyed and thought he'd done a good job in was Presumed Innocent way back in 1990.

Holy cow it just started raining here. Insane crazy pounding rain. Wheeeee! Time to get off the computer!

Never heard of Chuck, will have to check that one out. But what's this about Harrison Ford -- you didn't like Fugitive? or Patriot Games? I thought those were great, but this new Crystal Skull one was truly awful.

I was bored by Trust Me, but I think I might give it another try. I adored Wonderfalls, like I do Pushing Daisies...wish more people would've tuned in.

Your comment about Harrison Ford piqued my interest. I check IMDB, and I liked Clear and Present Danger (we're a Jack Ryan family) and tHe Fugitive (like jovaliquilts), but not much since. Good call!

Pokey and Lily look very content. They are just beautiful. So glad you are adjusted as well. I also see a difference in Harrison Ford's more recent performances. He's become too serious and doesn't look like he's enjoying acting anymore.

I love Chuck too!! Just got caught up watching it on the internet, since I can't seem to ever catch it on tv... plus my computer is on the same table as my sewing machine, so I can multitask, (if you consider watching tv productive...)

I want to check out wonderfalls... I've heard good things. And for pure silliness, I've been enjoying Kath and Kim, and 30 Rock online as well!!

I'm so glad you have made it safe and sound back to the US of A. And the kitties, too. Long time fan here. I finally tried some free pieced letters. Lots o'fun. I think the idea of a "learn about blogging" table at quilt shows is great. Stay warm and dry down there in Florida.
Julie, out in warm and way too dry California

ps:these verification words are getting odder and odder! ingesymo? blugfar?

Oh...I'm on my way to look up the Dead Like Me movie and add it to the NetFlix cue. I had read about it a while ago but forgot! Thanks for the reminder.

Funny you should say that about Harrison Ford. My DH says the very same thing. I was kind of disappointed too and thought the ending was weird.

I liked him in Clear & Present Danger and the Fugitive also, but you know I didn't care for the Crystal Skull either - just wasn't the same as the old Indie movies in my opinion.

Lily is one stunny babe.
I know what you mean about Harrison-he's kind of been phoning it in for a while and not looking like he enjoys his life.
I must look into getting "Chuck" as I most often like your recommendations.
Glad you're settling in nicely.
Your fabric purchases remind me of spring-very happy fabric.

I LOVE Wonderfalls! A friend lent me her DVD set a few years ago and I've been wanting to own it ever since. Luckily, my husband bought it for me this Christmas and now he's hooked on it, too.

Glad to see you are settling in at your new home! Take care!

I've been watching Fringe since it debuted and I do like it - but I'm starting to see the end of my commitment. Introducing a conspiracy, power-flinging governmental bad guys (as I view this "overseer" who has it in for Dunham) or the evil version (Tru Calling) just to inject "conflict" is the quickest way to get me to switch the channel.

Lie To Me is very entertaining. I like the way that individual "tells" are identified and then illustrated with pictures of real-life liars (surprise! there are a lot of politicians!). Mentalist is just cute. The "beautiful people" supporting cast are each flawed enough that they aren't all that Mattel (IMO, of course!).

Additions to the list (in my living room) are Ghost Whisperer, Eleventh Hour, Bones (you really need to get caught up so you can start enjoying that one again!) and without a doubt, Leverage on TNT Tuesdays.

I can smile and enjoy and get inspired by your fiber-related posts and that the cats are adorable and regal ("Cute? Baby ducks are cute, I hate cute! I want to be exotic and mysterious..."), but apparently it's books and TV that will get me to click the "comment" button!

We also had the same problems with Picassa...for some un-holy reason we ended up with about 4-5 repeats of every picture. When I moved things upstairs to my own computer I just left the Picassa program downstairs and just had the pics downloaded to this computer. Problem solved. But darn it... I liked Picassa too...I just loved what you could do there, but I certainly don't want to have a half dozen of the same pics.using all that precious hard drive.

Love the b/w kitty fabric. I've been working with kitty fabric also, but it's more or less a take off on the Pink Panther. I like it. I hope my grandaughters will like it too.

Such pretty kitties! I've been thinking about emailing you to ask about the Saraha cloth we talked about a few months ago. I was trying to find a particular color and didn't have luck locally or online until your tip up there for the quiltshop site. I found the name and was able to find one place that has the color I need. I ordered the last of it. It seems they are not making it anymore. Anyway, thanks for the tip, Tonya!

Haven't seen the Crystal Skull and don't think I want to. I prefer the first ones and don't want this one to spoil the others for me.

Is Presumed Inncoent the one set in Amish country? That film is brilliant.

Lie to Me's first show was interesting but then last week they did this show where the main story line was about the Army. Please check facts...an E-6 would not be a Platoon Leader (and who makes E-6 after only 3-4 years in the service?!) So turned me off.

I have learned to really like the Mentalist. My first reaction was similar to yours but Dh insisted we give it another try (you can't live on Law and Order and NCIS alone.) It finally has me. I'm not holding it against them that they are beautiful...I just wish she would get pants that fit....

The monster fabric is gorgeous! It reminds me of 'Where the Wild Things Are' by Maurice Sendak.
