A View from the Bridge

More pictures from my walk the other day. These were all taken on or in the vicinity of the Pont Alexander III which spans the Seine. A view of the itty bitty Eiffel Tower:

Ya'll enjoyed the pics of lampposts the other day so I thought I'd show you these, which are far more elaborate:

Le Coq:

Double-headed eagle:

The sign says Pont Alexandre III, 1897-1900:

This statue of a ship's bow coming out of the monument isn't nearly as elaborate as those I saw over by the Louvre and unfortunately it appears to be deteriorating:

A lion and cherub:
I spent the day doing mandatory grocery shopping (so boring, but starvation would be even worse) and watching season 2 of Veronica Mars. The season definitely wasn't as good as the first one (two very skippable episodes) but I still love it and am eagerly awaiting season 3.

I've hit a groove with Horrors. I've added some embroidery and I'm quite pleased with it. Pics another day. I'm also working on another tutorial.

Some of my students' (ooh, I like how that sounds!) handiwork is showing up here and here and there... I'm thoroughly enjoying the class.

Your Halloween link for today is Cuddly Rigor Mortis to see handmade cute-scary dolls. I'm personally fond of the Frankenstein monster and the mummy.

Please continue to post links to your students' work. So fun to follow along. I'm with you on the grocery shopping. I've taken to going online and having it delivered (do they have that in Paris?) I'll trade control for convenience any day.

So how do you catalog all of the beautiful photos you take on your wanderings? Or do you?

We finally had rain today (and tho I much prefer the sun, I am VERY grateful... we're over 16" below normal this year and it shows).

Thanks again for sharing the gorgeous pics!!

How'd I miss your class? Such wonderful letters they are making. I must steal some of their ideas. Gosh, just when I thought I was done with letters for a while.

So who polishes all that gold on the bridges?! (Or does it not need to be polished?)

Yes, thanks for the links to your students' work. Love seeing what they're each doing!

I feel trite saying it, but Paris is SO beautiful. I almost breathe it in through your photos. Thanks!

Hello Tonya, I linked to your blog through Cheri's introdution. I like your free-style works and appreciate your generous tutorials. I recently did some free-hand quilting. To me, it just happened. It was a result of being tired of marking. Thank you very much for explaining it so clearly, I shall have a further adventure following your instruction. :-)

Sorry there is nothing about Paris. I have only been to Paris once briefly. I can't really say I like it or not.

I think pont alexander is the fanciest bridge in paris! it was nice to have a bit of a virtual holiday and relax a bit with imagining the seine flowing by.

no, no, no grocery shopping in paris boring - I can't even imagine! the food, the markets. and if there's no time picards! (I can't figure out why we don't have such shops!)

a quilting class with folks from the global village sounds wonderful....ah, another thing to add on my 'to do' list. check!

I keep meaning to tell you that the lamp post looks like it came straight out of the Beauty and the Beast Disney movie :)
