Feeling Good

Yesterday I was just lagging. Tired and dragging and sluggish but even so I got my crumb quilt pieced together, sans border. Haven't downloaded the photos yet, so instead you get a picture of my lazy Pokey girl.

Today I did much better. Did some hand quilting (actually feel like I'm going to finish Merry Penguins soon) while watching Desperate Housewives Season Two and While You Were Sleeping - one of my favorite movies ever. Washed and ironed a load of fabric and got started on cutting strips from the fabric that I have been buying since I got back to the states in Sept. Had so much fun piecing with Bonnie that I want to keep playing in the utility quilt vein, even though I don't have crumbs and I don't have enough fabric for the quilt to really be scrappy. Gotta do the best I can. It's going to be fun and bright and intense.

My poor husband has gotten saddled with all the work of moving into the new Paris apartment (heh heh heh). He's gotten everything unpacked now and some lamps to brighten the place up, so it's starting to come together. There are several butcher shops in the area and now he's found the fromagerie (cheese shop). I'm really pleased that he's been reading the Les Halles Cookbook by Anthony Bourdain (which is a real hoot - Bourdain's abrasive personality really shines through) and getting excited about cooking with all the fresh ingredients there.

Howler is yelling at me for attention. He was so quiet (mostly) while Bonnie was here... Guess I better go stand over him at the food bowl and give him some loving. Ya'all take care.

That photo made me laugh out loud! What a character. (don't think I've commented before, but I do read your blog and admire all your quilting).

Love the kitty photo - he's a real acrobat! Not surprising you've been feeling a bit bushed after working at 'Bonnie' speed - good that you're getting back to normal. As difficult it is with DH in Paris and you still in the US the other advantage (apart from having the apartment all sorted for your arrival) is he will have weeded out the duff shops and found all the good ones ready for your arrival :o)

That photo deserves to be the subject of a caption contest! (eg "they say stretching is good for the abs") Like others it made me laugh out loud when I saw it. What a hoot!

Spectacular photo of Pokey; even his eyes are clearly delineated; what a great photographer you are! I also just adore While You Were Sleeping. It was definitely filmed in a Chicago suburb; does anybody know which one? Oak Park maybe....

Great photo of Pokey. I wish I could be that relaxed! Does he do Yoga by any chance? Lol. Glad to hear DH is getting things organized in Paris. Just a warning, stay out of bucher shops with a horse head on the sign. They sell horse meat, which may tase fine but kind of goes against my grain. The cheese is wonderful and the open air markets are also fantastic. I especially love their pates.

That should have been she, not he. Sorry Pokey.

I could watch While You Were Sleeping every day! Looking forward to seeing the photos of the crumb quilts. I would also recommend Daniel Boulud's Cafe Boulud cookbook. Boulud's personality couldn't be further removed from Bourdain's (which I also enjoy)--but there's something essentially French about it and his reverence for the ingredients and their link to family.

Have fun playing with your fabric. I love those "play quilts" best of all. They always turn out to be my favorites.

I'll add to the laughter. That is one great picture. You should find a photo contest and enter it. I bet all of us have days where we wish we could be that lazy.

your energy will return when you can start taking your meds and eating what you want - can't remember when you are getting your scan but hoping for a nice clean one

Funny picture!

Were you just indulging her in a bout of tummy scritching or was she in the midst of a back-scratching wriggle?

Glad you're feeling better, too. :)

She is so funny and cute. Cats are wonderful. Did you name Howler after the Ile Rien books? Am almost finished with the fourth one and very thankful you recommended them. Enjoy the sun.

Pokey looks like he's settled in comfortably...LOL! My next life, I want to come back as a cat. Could you imagine feeling relaxed in THAT position?

Glad your DH is getting things sorted out in Paris. I know you're going to have a wonderful time finding the best cheese shop/bakery/butcher, etc.

Ah, but has your hubby found the boulangerie? And my spelling is probably atrocious! The bakery.

I hope when you get to Paris, you can find everything. Will he just pile your fabric boxes in a room and shut the door?

Love the Pokey picture. He looks like you described feeling.

Oooh fromagerie! Love cheese. Lovely that your husband is getting all 'French' with his cooking. Maybe encourage him to continue when you get there!

I do love the bright colours too.
