Ah Oui, But of Course

I told ya'all that I was going to spread my fabric acquisition photos out over time. Too embarrassing otherwise. And you want to know what is worse? There's more out there. Must look away. Must look at pretty fabric I already own.

Here's Pokey modeling. You've seen bits of the buggy olive fabrics in previous posts, but not these two Paris prints. I'm a sucker for words anyway, and these are in French:

Definitely had to get this Paris map fabric. I love it, but it doesn't have my favorite area: Montmartre and the basilica.

Even more French-inspired fabric winged its way to me recently. The ever so sweet Jan of Be*Mused surprised me with Japanese fabric :

I get the feeling I need to put all the frenchiness into one quilt.

By the way, I didn't mean to make it look like my condition is so dire. I am not chair-bound, not by a long shot. Spending a whole day in the chair with Pokey? That was just indulgence and wanting to have her close by.

Watched The Bourne Identity last night. Oh, Matt Damon was so cute and young and I loved the interplay between him and Franke Potente. When the stars actually have charisma and the suspense stuff actually works? Heaven. So fun watching them race around Paris in the Mini Cooper - one of my favorite chase scenes ever.

Woohoo, Fringe has gotten renewed for a fourth season. Thrilled about that. It has gotten sooo good this season. But argh, now have to wait for new episodes. If you haven't tried it, read this and just give a recent episode a try.

Alright, I have to stop goofing off and do chores. Later.

  2. Last fall I was looking every where for French themed fabric and could not find it!! A friend of my son and his wife is French and I was making a quilt for them. I would have loved to have had the map of Paris. Great fabric and sweet Pokey is so cute.

  8. Ah, looks like she sent you some Suzuko Koseki prints. I love her! There are some amazing Japanese designers out there and I wish we could access their fabrics more readily.

I'm a Castle addict myself. It's the way the characters interact with each other. Reminds me of the Firefly cast. Love your wordy fabric.

  11. I love the frenckh fabrics. What's the name of the map one and the one with the Eiffel Tower on it? My son wants it for pillowcases.

  13. Castle, yes! Great interaction, and every look that crosses his face is just priceless.

I got the red and white French fabric too - it's the backing for a red and white charm quilt I made last week in anticipation of the Infinite Variety show. (which is, alas, almost over.)Not only is it red and white, but it's all ads for sweets and pastries!

  14. C'est magnifique! I just ordered some more French fabric tonight. I've got to make a "J'adore Paris!" quilt. It's for a challenge "What Women Love". I was debating about the red and white map fabric, but found a couple of others I like.

  15. I got two French-y fabrics last year - one with the Eiffel Tower and the other the b&w map of Paris. I'm making pillowcases for my DIL who loves Paris. My 8 yo granddaughter has been to Paris 4 times in her short life! (They were stationed in Germany) I think those fabrics are great fun, and mai oui, you need a wordy French quilt! Ooo la la!

  17. There seem to be so many French-themed fabrics available lately! Looks like you'll have no problem finding a place to use the pieces I sent. :-)
I can't wait to see what you come up with.

  18. Tonya,
I have not seen the French fabrics before- I am sure you are going to have fun with them. You must miss living in Paris- It would have been a very interesting place to live. Such great art everywhere. I am sure it is very different living in a place rather than just visiting it.
Love the word pieces in your previous post.
Pokey is such a loving cat- looks like she/he is doing well these days.
Hope you are soon recovered and that the leg does not give you too much trouble.
Your liberated houses for Christmas/ Halloween sound like so much fun. I do love Freddy and Gwen's books with their liberated pieces and ideas.
    Regards,
    Anna

  19. Oh your French-inspired fabrics are wonderful, especially the one that reminds me of a toile and seems to be about chocolates. Is that still available somewhere? I must get back to my quilt-making.

  20. Oh, Tonya, what is the fabric with C. Leroux and Pralines on it???

  21. Great fabrics!! (And cute fabric model, too.)
I watch the Bourne Identity every few months -- the other 2 also, but this one is my favorite. Did you see Matt Damon in 30 Rock? He was a riot!

  22. Oh yeah! I'm in with both a Frenchie quilt (yes, you should definitely make one) and Fringe (I never miss an episode -- gotta love TiVo). I love Ken tucker's comparison of the relationships as akin to those on Frasier. TOTALLY!

  24. HI Tonya, I just posted on some of my free pieced letters, so check it out if you have time. You can put free pieced letters french words in your quilt as well as the fabrics, a fantastic way to remember your time in Paris!
