Fantastic Keiko Goke Quilt

Of all the quilts I've seen so far at Houston International Quilt Festival, this is one of my favorites. My Double Wedding Ring quilt made by Keiko Goke:

Keiko is incredibly talented. This quilt was made improvisationally without templates, and beautifully quilted. She also added some hand stitches:

I didn't know before, but I sure do now, that Market is the best time to come and see quilts. The winners aren't up, but most of the other quilts are and it is a ghost town. Keiko's quilt looks stunning from far too, not just close up:

My friend Siobhan arrived yesterday and we're stitching and relaxing before the madhouse that is preview tonight.

I saw this one on Sue Spargo's blog yesterday. I didn't realize it's free pieced. That's really great. I've been wanting to try this sort of shape with the free piecing. And the quilting is really stunning. Have a great time!

This was one of my favorites, too, and I got to stare at it for a good five minutes without another soul coming close!

Oh and I hope you can sell your book too, otherwise I'll have to come to Florida myself to have my copy signed :-)

The quilt is so fun because I love the wonky nature but yet not too wonky for this pattern!!!! ANd the quilting, WOWSWER!!!! So amazing!~ Roxy has a lot to learn! Thank you for showcasing. As I was out watching a cattle round-up with 2 old codgers yesterday, thought of you and V at the quilt round-up!

I LOVE Keiko Goke's quilts and have several of her books including one that shows how she cuts and sews the double wedding ring. Really clever.
I'm really looking forward to your book, Tonya. Congratulations!

Hi,

My mom has a quilting blog and she's a little discouraged that no one comments on it. She's new to social media and has trouble figuring out how to interact with people online and finding other blogs to follow, and when she does find blogs she forgets where they are (I'm trying to teach her to organize her bookmarks).

So, I'm reaching out to a few cool bloggers that seem to share similar interest and asking you to check out her small blog and post some words of encouragement.
