This is Halloween

Welcome!

If you were to visit me this month (or last month and a good part of next month), Slither Eek Boo would be the first thing you'd see.  I actually don't have a good place to display a large wall quilt here, not since I put up my design wall instead.

Caution, here be spiders:

I love having most of my Halloween decorations here (more are in storage - sigh)

The buttons from repurposed shirts, plus a few eyeballs and spiders:

Bad to the Bone:

My shelves no longer look this tidy. I need to figure out something creepy to hang from the rod here. I tried a ghost, but it just disappeared into the wall. Blooming Horrors amongst a couple of crusties:

Pokey and Cranky Witch:

And that's not even all the Halloween quilts I've made. Definitely my favorite quilty holiday.

I got incredibly distracted while writing this post. First I wanted to find a video of This is Halloween from Nightmare Before Christmas. I stumbled across this version by Panic! at the disco, which I like much better than the original:

unfortunately you can't buy just the song, it comes as part of an entire album. I don't like it that much. But the search for the song got me looking at Halloween compilations at iTunes. There are all sorts of songs I'd never even heard. Usually it's just Monster Mash... Anyway, now I'm looking for songs to add to my own mix. What's your favorite song(s) that would work for Halloween?

Since this is a Halloweeny post, you need a picture of a black kitty. Howler enjoying the cooler weather we've been having (woohoo!) and the fresh air:

Of course today it's hot and muggy and cloudy again, drat.

Fun fun fun decorating for Halloween--Slither Eek Boo looks wonderful. I am working on my own couple of Halloween wall hangings. The only Halloween songs I know are Monster Mash and Thriller so I am of no help. Thanks for sharing all the pics!

All your Halloween deco looks so fun! I have a few songs that are pretty normal, but just seem better at Halloween: Bad Moon Rising, Werewolves of London, Boris the Spider, and, of course Thriller. We've also got a halloween album called Gouls with Attitude that's pretty fun with tunes like Drac's Back, and Omar the Vampire.

Very fun work! Pokey doesn't look very scared though :-) Did he help you make the quilt?
Pet that black one for me :-)

I love all the Halloween quilts! I'm making quilts for seasonal decorating but I started with fall since I'll never get one done for this Halloween. Maybe next year.

Do I see quilts hung using towel bars (instead of curtain rods)? What a GREAT idea ...

LOVE your Halloween quilt and I'm so glad you have them hung up!

Thanks for sharing your Halloween quilts. I am wanting to make one for myself, have done one for my grand daughter, suppose it is too late for this year. Am curious about a pattern for the spiders, or did you make it up yourself? Oh, and the "Bad to the Bone" quilt too. Thanks

I love to see your Halloween decorations! I got some of my Halloween quilts up the other day. Not all, but enough to make it feel festive. I'm trying to tone it down a bit for house showings!

OK, you've officially got me in the halloween mood, dancing in my seat here. These are wonderful quilts, a beautiful cat, and the greatest post I've ever seen! Thanks for getting the bah-humbug snarl off my face!

I am currently in the process of persuading R to put up one of those metal string curtain rod type thingies with clips, so I can get Haunted Houses and Bellatrix up on the walls. Having severe persuasion problems!

Anyway I'd love to spend Halloween at Chez Toi. Could "gorge" on Mr Jack forever!

My "Screeech" looks very small against the rest!

Love those witches under Bad to the Bone.

These are so fun! May I ask what the hanger is on the quilts? Betsy
(p.s. Let Pokey know he's my husband's favorite blogger cat! Love those eyes! But don't let the other kitties know... they might be jealous.)

Slither Eek Boois FAB!! I'm like you...my design wall is the only place I have large enough to hang a decent size quilt! I've been wondering where I will hang mine!!

You have a nice selection of 'spooky' creations!!!

Love these quilts and the close up shots too of all the creative hand quilting you have done on them...these distance shots don't do them justice.

Oh and I just have to say again how I get a little thrill from seeing my little block in "Slither Eek Boo"...its so charming.

Your work always inspires me and I am so looking forward to having Your book Tonya.

Yeah thriller is the only Halloween song that I like....Michael Jackson really did an amazing job on the video too.

Happy Sewing

Love, love, LOVE your Halloween/dia de los muertos decorations. Awesome stuff.
Now I feel guilty that I haven't put up my Halloween tree yet.
Have you ever thought of doing a Samhain-inspired quilt or hanging? Just a thought. It'd go nicely with your other October holidays.
As for music for the season, besides the aforementioned "Monster Mash" and "Werewolves of London," may I suggest the amazon download of Halloween classical music?

I bought it last year and I've really enjoyed it as background music. Lots of fun stuff in there. :)

Your Halloween decorations are playful and fun. It is not my favorite holiday but I still like some of the images. How about Bloomin Horrors? Is there a larger picture or pattern somewhere? I could sneak that in real easy.
Thanks for all the fun pictures that you faithfully post. Pokey looks a lot like our Lilly. She is also a fabricholic.
Looking forward to your book on letters. I have tried some and they are addictive.
