Liberated Quiltmaking

Woohoo, great news. Looks like a paperback edition of Gwen Marston's classic Liberated Quiltmaking is once again available. American Amazon is carrying it, says it will ship 4-6 weeks after it's been ordered.

I highly recommend this book, as anyone who's been reading my blog for long knows. Here are a bunch of posts that refer to it. Hopefully I haven't praised it so highly that when you finally get it you go, this is all there is? (There have been a few movies that I've seen after reading glowing reviews and they just can't live up to the hype.) Check it out at the library first (Interlibrary Loan works wonders) if you don't want to splurge, but do check it out.

Oh, just go buy it! It is every bit as wonderful as Tonya says it is. You won't be let down. Tonya, I think Gwen should be paying you royalties!

Glad to hear you're feeling more perky! and Pokey's looking gorgeous (as always). The fabrics from yesterday look yummy!

Oh, hooray! I've been stewing about the fact that I don't have this book and choking at the price of used copies. Now I'll be able to scratch THAT itch...

And doesn't Pokey look adorable, as usual?

At one point I had this book...may be time to replace it. Pokey looks like she is in charge of those blocks!

One kitty has things covered, the other observes from a distance. Cute photo.

I took a two day class on liberated quiltmaking from Gwen about 12 years ago and it really changed my way of thinking about quilting. I mayb need to buy that book too.

I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in that book. I see the influence of her work in your quilting and love your style. I have both this book and the Liberated Strings one.

Persistence pays off! The publishers have been reading your blog. Now all I've got to do is to prise the debit card from DH's wallet!

So glad it's being re-issued! I couldn't bear to pay the crazy prices it was going for on eBay and at Alibris. Thanks for the heads up!

I *swear* that cat is Egyption! Everytime I see it, I think that it is one of the tomb paintings! Love it!

I'll have to check this book out. I've seen many people take about it. I have one other Gwen Marston book about making fabric books and love it.

I love the selection of brights you bought, but it looks like you may have to fight Lily when you are ready to use them.

How cool to be able to take a road trip. I'm glad to hear your feeling better.

I love your new fabrics. I just realized that you had been dropped from my bloglines list, probably because you switched to the new blogger. I'm glad that I checked on your blog and that you are up and running again. Have you watched Little Miss Sunshine? THat has to be the best movie I've seen in ages.

Am now looking for it. Unfortunately our library system sucks royally. So if I can find it somewhere to look at I may purchase. Then again I may just throw caution to the winds and buy it sight unseen on your recommendation.

You are right about Gwen´s book. I have it , have read it many times and il always gives me new ideas. I have received her book on Mary Shafer and it is a great read as well. Highly recommendable even if one is not really into traditional patchwork.
