Waiting

Hi guys.

The appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday went well. He thinks the best option is to take out the whole thyroid. On Wednesday I had an MRI of my neck done so that he would have all the information he needs going in. His surgery coordinator is supposed to call and tell me when my appointment is, but so far I've heard nothing, which is making me crazy. I'm afraid to wander away from the phone. I'll be a pest tomorrow. The surgeon said he thought the earliest he'd be able to do it was in a couple of weeks. So it's gonna be awhile.

Today I did a lot of quilting on Cranky Witch while watching Emma (the tv version with Kate Beckinsale, most definitely not the movie with Gwyneth Paltrow). Jane Austen is so wonderfully comforting. I then watched the Project Runway marathon on Bravo. I hate couture - what ugly clothes. But the show was fun, even if my favorite designer didn't win.

I miss my sweetie, but the cats are keeping me good company. I haven't been spending much time on the computer at all, but I have gotten your comments and emails. Thanks for the good wishes. I'll catch up with you later.

I am glad they are taking the whole thing out - when I had mine they did half and then had to do a second surgery to take out the second - recovery was really pretty easy - just a little stiffness and I couldn't talk very loudly for awhile - I know that waiting is the pits so I hope they call soon so you can get your calendar in order1

Thinking of you.

Tonya what happens if they take the whole thyroid? Do you then need to take medication? I am not terribly knowledgeable on the workings of most parts of the human body. I hope they get it taken for you soon. Sometimes the waiting is worse than the surgery. Best wishes with everything.

I don't know what I said there. I hope they get it settled soon is what I meant. I must be tired.

I guess getting the whole thyroid out is the best option. At least you know you won't have to go back later and have the rest done. I hope all goes well and that you can have it done soon. Waiting is the worst part.

Sending lots of positive healing thoughts your way. I have two friends who went through this years ago. Surgery went well and they've had no complications of any kind since then. I guess if you must have cancer somewhere then this is certainly one of the better places to have it. I'm sure you are going nuts but I have faith it will all go well and you'll be over in Paris before you know it.

Hang in there, Tonya...it'll be so great to have it behind you. I can just see you strolling along the Left Bank, gazing at Notre Dame, ready for a yummy meal and a nice glass of red. Sending lots of good thoughts and hugs your way.

Good to hear from you - had been thinking of you and now keeping fingers crossed that it's all over quickly and you can be on your way to Paris tout suite (I think there might be an 'e' on the end of 'tout' but my French is not very good - hope yours is better).

I'm sure it will be once you've had a little while over there (your french I mean) - hope the surgeon gets you in, gets it out and gets you back on the mend as soon as possible - thinking of you and sending lots of good thoughts

Is this one of those operations that you get to eat lots of icecream afterwards? I'm keeping my fingers crossed you get to have it done early and get to get on with your travel! When I'm down I go for I Claudius, the Jane Austin Series (TV not movies) and, of course, all the Harry Potter movies.

Wouldn't it be fun for Project Runway to do sweatsuits!

Quilting is perfect for the kind of holding pattern you're in right now. Mind-numbing but beautifully productive too. My thoughts are with you.

And I'm with you on the ugliness of much couture. I can't believe that there was a time when that's where I wanted to be.

My apologies if this posts twice. Blogger Beta is just a little weird.

All the best for the surgery to be done quickly and then you can get on with what you want to do! Sending good wishes from Downunder :-)

I too got caught in a Project Runway marathon Season 2 last year!! I tivo'd Season Three. I am so mad that Jeffrey won! I wanted Laura to win.

It's nice the "boob tube" is helping you to keep your mind off your sweetie being gone and everything else on your plate. Nice to tune out sometimes!!
