Hanging in There

I'm hanging in there. It's taking seemingly forever to recover from the thyroidectomy, even tho I've felt tons better every single day. I just want to instantly be well. No surprise there.

I'm still on pain meds and a bit fuzzy. Not as much as before tho. As I said, getting better every day. I think the resident told me that the immediate tests on my thyroid showed that the nodules were benign. I was a bit out of it when he was talking to me though, so I'll have a much better idea of how the surgery went after meeting with the surgeon on Monday.

Thanksgiving was pretty pathetic here. My darling sweetie ate a chicken pot pie and I was able to eat a couple of crackers, as well as jello and applesauce(during the day, not all at once). Sweetie made me a pumpkin pie (made as in put it in the oven and cooked it) so I was able to have some of that last night.

I put up our limited Christmas decorations. We have our Egyptian applique stockings (to read more about them, go here) which are bright and happy.

I'm having a hard time focusing on this, so I'm going to sign off now. Ya'all take care.

Hey, Tonya, I am so glad you're back. I missed you. I've got my fingers crossed that all goes well on Monday with the surgeon. Take it easy and watch a Cary Grant movie, that always makes me feel better when I am blue or under the weather.

Glad you're on "your way back". I've missed you. Hope all is good news on Monday.
Thanksgiving in our house was pathetic, too. My husband had come down with a bad cold, so we ended up having scrambled eggs. He's on the mend and we'll have our turkey with all the "fixings" tonight.

I am so glad they were benign! Take care of yourself, and let your hunny spoil you.

P.S. That stocking rocks!

So happy to hear the surgery went well. I was surprised to see a new post today, surprised but pleased. I like your stocking. Take care and know the quilts will be waiting for you as soon as you are well. Rest and recover.

So good to hear from you. I think you're doing great to even be on the computer. Take your time and take care of yourself!

Could it have been a year since I saw those stockings? How time flies!

Hope you're feeling much, much better soon and I'll be looking forward to hearing the surgeon's report.

Ahh, great to see you up and around on the web... hope the sweetie and the kitties are taking good care of you and purring up a storm to heal you!

And who needs a Thanksgiving dinner when you have benign nodules to be thankful for instead?

Glad to see you back. Glad everything went well. Try not to get too frustrated with your recovery, it is SO frustrating that getting better doesn't happen instantly. :D

Well, I'm so glad to hear from you. I was hoping you or someone could post a quick update! GLAD that the surgery went fine and good pre-news on the tumor, luck for todays visit!! I'm so happy you came through well!

Now, you will feel fuzzy and unable to focus for a while still, unfortunately, until they get your meds up and regulated. When they started mine they gave me .1 mg and for 6 weeks I was unable to focus because it was too low. Hopefully they will start you higher, but it's fine. With me they gave me that, waited 6 weeks and then checked the level, upped the dosage, waited 6 weeks then checked the level...over and over until they got the blood level right where they wanted it.

Don't be afraid to say you don't feel up to par yet, otherwise they won't know to give you more meds. Some signs you don't have enough meds are: foggyness, confusions, forgetfulness, tired arms...like you can't hold them above your head for very long, thigh muscle fatigue going up stairs (seriously they will scream)...it's called long muscle fatigue. My doctor decribed it as feeling like the world is zooming by and you are stuck in SLOW MOTION...exactly it!! I guess I should add that if they go too high you will feel like you are having heart palpatations, and super nervous, shakey. But I think they will start low and slowly go up.

They eventually moved me up to .175 and I finally felt like a million bucks!, well you and I have talked about my levels moving, I'm now on .188, but I am super sensitive to changes.

I'm so glad that at least all that part is over and done and now you can just get better. I'm not sure when you guys are transferring to Paris...in Dec sometimes? Atleast you have packers that will handle most of that so you can get better. The kitties are certainly helping I am sure, to make you feel better. Let us know if there is anything you need!! Remember that I still have that goody bag for you when you finally get over to Paris!!

Great news, Tonya. Be sure to get your rest, and don't overdo . . . it's easy to exhaust your small energy reserves in your haste to be healthy! Just keep pacing yourself . . . gently!! Hope you soon feel up to hand-stitching, and the rest will follow.
Best wishes!
