Love and Lily

For months I had my quilt Rumspringa hanging up on the wall directly facing the front door. Figured it would look great to whoever comes to visit if that's the first thing they see. Well, to heck with that - I want to enjoy it myself! So I moved it up on the wall, next to the tv and directly facing the recliner. Ah, now I can enjoy it all the time.

I am so behind on blogging so many things, such as my wonderful teaching trip up to the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild and how I finished three quilts and then unfinished one of them, and wanting to post a tutorial on Playing with Scissors. Agggh, too much. Plus, I spent the whole day sewing - been a long time since I really got going like that (thank goodness the horrible allergies that were making my life miserable have subsided somewhat).

So instead, I'll try to hold ya'all over with kitty photos. You can see the beautious Lily as well as some of my freehand fan quilting:

This came up the last time that I showed this rug. No, I didn't make it myself. It came from Egypt and was made by the women of APE (a horrible acronym that stands for the Association for the Preservation of the Environment ) located in what is commonly known as Garbage City. I only know of one place to buy it in the States and that's from the fair trade store Ten Thousand Villages. It's called a Shaggy Rag Rug, but unfortunately is only sold in black and white with a little bit of color.

Hope that tides you over. Ya'all take care.

Wish I had one of those little note thingies that you can do over at Flickr. This is the first time I noticed the LOVE block with the upside down V and E. Love the quilting and the gorgeous Lily! Hurray for a whole day of sewing. I may be able to do that tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers now!

That gorgeous quilt is definitely a most excellent choice to tide us over, that and your pretty kitty. :) So glad the allergies are not so bad anymore. I just saw in this morning's paper that they have been worse than usual this year.

Oh how sweet she is! I still have and use my garbage bag!

One of Ton's Top 120 quilts! I've never noticed the upside down V and E before either.

One question you could answer for me is what size scissors do you use? I think my huge cutting scissors are too big.

Hello there! Wow, I LOVE that last photo of Lily...her whiskers look sooo long and quite prissy! HA!

I'm behind on all you've been up to but finally got caught up a little today. COOL! COOL! COOL! I think my favorite is your LOVE surrounded by the pink plaid shirting!

So colorful over here, cheers me up just strolling through your projects!!!

Love your quilt! Of course you should be the primary one to enjoy it! I am also so delighted that your allergies have started to let up. Maybe that means mine will do the same. What a sneezy Spring we've had.

I "love" the quilt. If you concentrate on the colours you barely notice the words, then you look at how the fabrics have been positioned and out pop the letters. Gorgeous!
