Right now I'm hand quilting my Plaid One Patch with Strings (I completed the top almost 2 years ago). It is so wonderful quilting through those recycled shirt fabrics, which are so soft. That made me go out on a buying expedition to Goodwill. These are all shirts except for the fabulous pink and green plaid shorts:
Yesterday I was "forced" to buy some Moda handwovens that are luxuriously soft. And my quilt guild had a "garage sale" and I found some great plaids that way too:
I've been disappointed in my tv viewing this week. The most recent Fringe and Lost episodes were merely "meh" verging on "bleah."
Has anyone else been watching "9 by Design" on Bravo? When the show focuses on the couple, who gut and redo homes in Manhattan, I love it. They have a great design esthetic. But all the stuff about their seven (yes seven eeek) kid? gack, that I fast forward through.
Pokey continues to overgroom herself, but I'd rather have her happy than furry - I've given up trying to get her to stop. At least for now. I'll just try to play with her more and give her extra lovings (as if that's even possible) and see if that helps.
Ya'all take care.
We also had a cat who would groom herself bald, mainly on her paws. We never did get her to stop and she lived to be 20.
ReplyDeleteYour plaids are great! Can't wait to see what you do with them.
I used to collect plaids, still have bins of them. They are a little harder to find here than they used to be. I do have some oranges, pinks and purples. E-mail me your addie again and I'll share :)
ReplyDeleteIzz went to the vet and they had to give her a steroid shot for severe flea allergy. Her excessive grooming has stopped but she is so lethargic that I'd almost rather be a "fleshy" sociable cat than one who lays on a rug all day long. the effects are supposed to go away in in 1-4 weeks. *sigh*
I never get enough of plaids and Goodwill shirts! I still have to find a big Goodwill store near me. Sometimes I end up buying plaid pajamas from clearance pile in the stores.
ReplyDeleteNice collection!
Wonderful plaids! I have been watching 9 by design and I like it a lot. I have a hard time finding anything to watch these days. I am so sad that the season finale of "the middle" and "Modern family" are next week.I love those shows. What am I going to watch?
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that Pokey is doing well. She looks so healthy and happy! I'm sure it is because of the love and good thoughts that she absorbs!
ReplyDeleteGreat plaids, and Pokey looks great. I have a friend who rubs an anti-anxiety medicine in her cat's ear and it helps her. Maybe that's an option for Pokey? It would make life so much easier if all cat meds were like that.
ReplyDeleteLove your plaids!! What a nice collection you've got there.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a collection of plaids! Looks like you've had some fun BUYING time! fun fun!
ReplyDeleteFun plaids- what's the plan?
ReplyDeletePlaids,plaids,plaids. Aren't they wonderful :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you and Pokey settled on her way! I hope she is able to stop it on her own or at least not be hurt by the licking. Now just what is she thinking in that photo?
Our cat's habit of overgrooming was broken by making her a sock sweater. Just cut off the toe of an old sock and cut holes for the front legs to slip through. It was pretty rough looking but she didn't mind wearing it and it worked.
ReplyDeletePokey looks part siamese, what is called a snow shoe. The siamese rescue web site has a forum section on health issues that can be very helpful.
I was so pleased to see you mentioned plaids. I have a big pile of them and was thinking of making a quilt for my brother, so I can't wait to see what you make.
ReplyDeleteLovley photo of Pokey, she is a doll.
Those pink and green shorts look like something you'd find in a FLORIDA Goodwill store!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that even with plaids there is so much colour variety! This will make a great quilt!
ReplyDeleteAsk your vet about minerals such as zinc and copper for Pokey. The calm meds are good idea too. Get the natural kinds. Beautiful cat.
ReplyDeleteLove those plaids! I have bins and bins of them...and that's good, cuz they're getting harder to find! I LOVE plaids. I'll bet those old shirts just quilt like butter!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that Pokey is doing well, but the overgrooming is not so good. Hope some of these suggestions are helpful!
Ok - I know that curiosity might kill the cat. So you must share the plan for the fabulous, plentiful plaids with all of us. FYI, check my blog to see my plaids in progress. Mine are much milder and I adore those brights that you have
ReplyDeleteGreat colors.......
ReplyDeleteI'm gathering fabrics for my unruly cat......
how is that tutorial coming along?
Wish I had a Pokey kitty......but next week I get to visit my grandcats :0).
Happy sewing
I've got an obsessive over-groomer too. Unfortunately, I can't get her to stop when she hits skin, so she ends up with these awful sores. Right now she's sporting the lampshade collar, and boy is she unhappy about it.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the ointment you rub on Pokey?
Plaids are absolutely my favorites. Love your additions and stash there...and so glad your baby is better!
ReplyDeleteOk....if Sharon has bins and bins of plaids....looks like she could share...HA! I can't complain...she has already 'shared' with me!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a good selection there Tonya...wowser on the pink/greens!!
Good Morning Tonya...My mom just passed away and I kept all her cotton shirts to use in a special quilt I'm going to make out of them. I thought that was a cool idea and I see you do the same thing! :)
