I visited Pokey yesterday. They brought her out to the examining room, with an IV tube still stuck in her leg. She looked better than she had the day before (but since that was absolutely terrible...). Unfortunately she was just scared the whole visit - all those noises and dogs at the vets - she just wanted to escape and curl up in a corner. So I decided not to visit again. Too hard on her. But I just wish I could hold her and see the improvement myself.
Thank you all for the kind messages and thoughts. We're all hanging in there, including my husband who is so far away right now. I think it's hardest on him. I'm at least here with the rest of the cats to give me love. They're not quite sure what is going on. Treat time is different now. Pokey is the ringleader and just begs for those treats. A couple of hours ahead of treat time she starts sitting and staring at me, alternating with jumping into my lap. My poor baby.
Sounds encouraging...Blessings to you. Thank you for taking time to update us.

ReplyDeleteSo glad to know that there is a slight improvement and that she's feeling a bit better.
My thoughts and prayers are still with you. Take care and don't give up, hon.

It sounds very hopeful. Will continue the prayers for Pokey and you!
ReplyDeleteYour little Pokey has a sweet face, just like my Bess. I hope she continues to improve and comes back and brighten your home.
ReplyDelete...clapping....yeah!...clapping....I hope this is a VERY good sign!
ReplyDelete......hang in there.....
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing! I love your little Pokey. She reminds me of my grandpa's sweet calico barn cat, the one I loved so much when I was a child.
ReplyDeleteI'm holding all of you in the light, as the Quakers say.
Really really pleased to read she's still with us and you're all hanging in there. I've been worried sick!
ReplyDeletexox
I'm glad things are looking brighter. I believe if Pokey wasn't a LOT better, she'd not even notice OR care about the noise at the vet's office. I predict she'll be home soon (on a special diet for cats with kidney issues) and life can return to a more normal routine for you and the other kitties!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update. I was hoping for positive news on Pokey this morning. I think the fact that she is eating voluntarily is a GREAT sign and I agree with Pat that if she weren't feeling better, she wouldn't care about the noise, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou and Pokey, and your husband, will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks for the update...my prayers are continuing for Pokey!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about you and Pokey for the past few days. You got good news so stay positive. She is young and cats are resiliant. I love my 4 legged kids sooo much so I'm cheering for a speedy recovery from the Pacific NW.

We will be purring for Pokey! We don't like all the noise at the
ReplyDeletev-e-t either.
Her improvement is a very good sign that she will continue to. You are a very good mama :-)
ReplyDeleteCalifornia prayers, purrs and woofs are going up for her. Glad to hear you have more felines around to comfort you.
Glad to hear Pokey is doing a bit better! Take care!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine what you are going through. Stay strong and it looks like Pokey is a fighter and will
ReplyDeletedo her best to get better. She is a wonderful Cat. I have fallen in love with her as so many followers have. We will all be praying for her fast recovery.
hey TOnya.
ReplyDeletepoor little pokey! :-( glad to hear she's still fighting! :-)
little cutie pie.
Thank you so much for the update. I've been thinking about you and Pokey and sending good thoughts for her recovery.
ReplyDeleteMore {hugs}, and {purrs} from my furbabies for her recovery.
Hope Pokey feels better soon...in the meantime, if you can't visit her (I know, it's very hard, I've been there too) can you leave a piece of your (unwashed) clothing with her to comfort her?
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad there's a bit of improvement. I've prayed for the both of you. My little female Missy got sick about 4 years ago and the hardest thing for her was staying at the Vets. All the noises and smells, she was petrified. I know it's hard for you not seeing her but it's better to let her rest until she gets better. I appreciate you letting us know how she is doing. I always love looking at her pictures, those beautiful blue eyes.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with you both.
Even the itty bittiest improvement is hopeful so hang in there. I know it's hard. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the update, Tonya. I've been thinking of you and Pokey so much the last few days. I've been where you are now, so I understand some of what you're going through. Sounds like she is making some improvements, so maybe all those prayers and purrs are working! Will continue same! Shade and Dunkel send more purrs and head butts to little Pokey. ((hugs!))
ReplyDeleteWill continue to send positive thoughts for a positive recovery.
ReplyDeleteMillie sent us. We are purring and purraying for Pokey.
ReplyDeleteStill keeping you both in my thoughts...I'm hoping she'll make a full recovery!
ReplyDeleteBaby steps, baby steps--she's making progress, and I'm glad to hear it.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds positive, still send her the very best of hope.
ReplyDeleteTonya, Pokey and other Kitties,
ReplyDeleteMiss Marti and Boo-Boo Kitty continue to send you love and support during this difficult time. You will be in my prayers.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and lovely Pokey. I pray for the Doctor to have the knowledge to heal him. Keep believing it can happen. I love your babies as if they are my own. I have all your pictures as my screen saver. Blessings to you all.
ReplyDeleteYou have my thoughts and prayers. This is such a difficult thing to go through!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you the very best with your percious cat. We just love our cats don't we and it hurts to see them hurt. Thank goodness things are looking up for all of you. Norma
ReplyDeleteI just found out today your baby was at the vet. What a terrible place to her. She's such a beautiful baby -- Maddie and I both hope she'll be home soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to read that there has been some improvement in her condition. I'll keep praying for her.
ReplyDeleteI do hope this means she will get better Tonya
ReplyDeleteThat's good news Tonya! When my kitty was diagnosed with kidney disease, the hardest thing was to get her to start eating and drinking on her own again. Once she did that she bounced back very quickly. She is on a low-protein diet and drinks and pees a lot, but other than that she is healthy and happy ... Best wishes from me and Trudy (cat).
ReplyDeleteTonya,
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to hear Pokey's doing a bit better. Eating is a big improvement! Here's hoping she'll get to come home soon. Thanks for taking the time to let us know how she's doing. Veterinary medicine has come a long way in a few short years.
Lois
So glad to hear of even a tiny bit of improvement. I'm praying for continued improvement and a complete recovery in the end.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is so good to hear. I hope she continues to improve and recovers to her old self! I'm sending hugs and Millie sends purrs.
ReplyDeleteLynne
Tonya,
ReplyDeleteYou need to visit with her in a private room. Honestly...she will get better sooner with you to encourage her.
When my kitty was very ill and in the ER for animals, they had me come in to help while they changed IV's and stuff. It settled her and then she would eat for me...not for them! I ended up getting to take her home much earlier as they could tell she needed me as much as I needed her. And she recovered.
My prayers are still coming your way.
XOXOXO Subee
Sorry to hear about Pokey's illness...but i hope she will have a speedy recovery, and be home in your arms soon! hugs~
ReplyDeleteWe're purring real hard for sweet Pokey:)
ReplyDeleteWe do hope that Pokey does get better!
ReplyDeleteI feel so bad. I looked at Pokey's picture from the last post and didn't read the words. I didn't know he was sick. Not that I don't love your quilting, but I pop in everyday just to see the cats. I have a 14 year old ginger tabby tom and he loves Pokey's pictures too. I just have to believe that everything will be fine. He has a wonderful home, with family that knows how to love cats to look forward to. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Caitty and Rusty
I shall continue to hope for you & your Pokey. I know what a difficult time you are going through. Prayers for Pokey & you, your husband & the other kittens.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for quite a while and was devastated to read of Pokey's illness. She is such a beautiful angel--all positive thoughts from our kittens Esme and Doug, to Pokey.
ReplyDeleteI am glad Pokey is better. I used to have a cat and she went missing a few years ago. I am too afraid to get another fear of loosing it again. Hang in there Tanya.
ReplyDeleteGreat News! Hope she gets better every day!
ReplyDeletePurrs for Pokey. Hope she feels better soonest.
ReplyDeleteMillie and her mom Lynne sent us over - We're praying and purring for you both!
ReplyDeleteNina and her mom Colleen
I hope Pokey is going to feel better soon. Hang in there Tonya.
ReplyDeleteWhy not take a T shirt you have worn, or your pillow case ( unwashed) for her to lay on at the hospital. It will give her the comforting smells of home, without the confusion of seeing you and then you leaving her. Just a thought, but I did it when my dog was sick, and the tech said he kept his head on the T shirt the whole time.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your sweet girl. You should keep visiting, I bet she loves your touch and your voice.
ReplyDeleteMum had a cat puss angel who went through the same thing, and the vet would let mum hold her even with all the drips in.
You will know when the time is right for your girl, she will let you know.
You are in our thoughts.
Julie and Poppy Q
Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteMy kitties are getting extra kisses these days......sending good thoughts to you and Pokey.
ReplyDeletei am not used to seeing her with eyes closed....she must be so beat. all the best and hopes for recovery.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound encouraging. My prayers continue for all of you.
ReplyDeleteHang in there Pokey!
ReplyDeleteI was sorry to hear about your kitty not doing so well when I got back from my trip but glad that she is doing better today. I hope you will keep us updated and know we are thinking of you and Pokey
ReplyDeleteWe are all glad to hear that Pokey is doing better. The fact that she ate on her own is a good thing, and it is so good that her kidneys are starting to function more! We will keep sending purrs and good energy her way.
ReplyDeleteMany thoughts and prayers coming your way from TN. I hope Pokey bounces back soon! She is just lovely, and we love our pets! They ARE family, I know she will do her best to get better and get home real soon!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Pokey is doing better!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Pokey is doing a bit better. We'll keep fingers, paws, and tails crossed here!
ReplyDeleteI heard about Pokey on Darling Millie's blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to here that she is doing a little better. My Court and I are all purring and purraying that she continues to get better and is back home soon.
We came to your blog via Millies blog because we saw you needs purrayers. Our Teri is a vet tech and she knows how worried you must be. And how hard not to visit is. She is happy she works at an all cat hospital with no barking dogs! She said you could take in some old wash cloths that you have rubbed all over you and some that you rubbed on the other kitties and they can put those in her cage and the scent will help calm her and make her happy.
ReplyDeleteHope she improves each day and can come home soon. Don't be afraid if you have to give fluids under the skin at home too. Teri did that with her beloved Bo for 5 years, every day and they had lots of extra years to love each other because of that.
I think it is more than a little hopeful. I think it is a HUGE improvement. Will keep you both on the prayer list. Hang in there Tonya!!!
ReplyDeletePokey,
ReplyDeleteWe are all pulling for you here in Illinois. Sending purrs and snuggles,
Taz, Runt, Charles and mommy, Anna
