Hi guys, sorry I've been so quiet. I'm having horrendous internet problems lately and this is the first time I've even been able to access my blog to post. Reading blogs hasn't been possible either, but maybe this is a good sign.
I don't know why, but just can't seem to get myself motivated to sew, but I have been handquilting on Rumspringa.
The one big thing that is going on here is that I'm going to be coming back to the states earlier than expected. Sometime in January my husband and I and all the cats will fly to Florida where we have a place to stay. He'll spend two weeks on the beach and then head back to Paris to finish up his tour, which will hopefully be shortened. My husband had always planned on bringing us back to the states early - he doesn't want to traumatise the cats with the pack up - he does worry about them so.
I need the sun desperately and this will give me a chance to get medical issues taken care of and work on the book with Bonnie. Don't have any news for you on that front, just that we're still working on it slowly but surely.
So I'm starting to sort through things. Not really seriously, just staring with the magazines. One thing at a time.
I'm ready to stop living the gypsy life, but we're not quite there yet. This is my last overseas post though - I'm done. It's way too hard with the cats, plus I'm ready to be more serious about this whole quilting thing.
By the way, my husband actually watched all of Pushing Daisies Season One with me and really enjoyed it. Woohoo. Hope ya'all are watching it too.
Now, fingers crossed I can actually get this to publish. I'll probably be posting really rarely for a while, please hang in there with me.
If you are having a sort out I'll have to come up to help you :-)
ReplyDeleteAcutally, because of your silence I thought you had already gone back!
Seriously, if you've got time I'd like to come up for a mini-break if you'll have me.
Wooo hoo Florida and sun! I think you'll be a lot happier. Paris is a gorgeous city but only when the sun is shining which it definitely isn't at the moment!
Safe journeys to you all!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the sorting out, the packing and the moving!
ReplyDeleteOnce you’re on US ground again, I bet your sewing mojo comes back (if not sooner...!)
Ugh--another move for you. But Florida and sun in January...!!! Sounds awfully good to me. Wish there was a way to make the kitties understand that this is a GOOD THING. They are some well-traveled felines.
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering why you were so quiet.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the sorting and decluttering!
looking forward to the sunshine might not be quite as good as being in it, but that too shall come :-)
ReplyDeleteMy creative muse has been silent lately also. I am glad to hear you are coming home. Two weeks in Florida in January sounds terrific. Can we all meet on the beach? I don't envy you having to pack up though. It is good to put down roots. I live in the town I was born in and that is good and bad. Good luck with everything. you are a good friend to lots of people.
ReplyDeletehang in there. hope you are settled and quilting again soon.
ReplyDeleteI think you are very lucky to live in Paris. It has always been my dream to do so. For now I have to be satisfied with sporadic visits, as I am primary caregiver for my mother. I was a French major, but except for a few years' teaching, didn't use my skills. I have quilted for 30+ years. So I love your blog, as it combines both my interests :-) I'm sure you've enjoyed Paris and found life there frustrating as well. I'm hoping you can make a blog post about life in Paris. Best to you, Annette
ReplyDelete...hanging in there with you.
ReplyDeleteBig changes coming, Tonya! I'm just sorry I never had a chance to visit Paris while you're there. I wish you all the best as you prepare to move and I hope Florida is all you are looking for. Perhaps I'll see you in Fl someday!
ReplyDeleteWe will be waiting, Isn't moving a joy, you get to sort all your stuff. Happy packing, oh yeah, there is no such thing.
ReplyDeleteWe just moved but only 200 miles away. Still, it is traumatic. I wish I would have labeled my boxes with "came from sewing room, drawer #2" instead of "sewing stuff". I know better where things WERE so I could look in the box that corresponded to that place. Still looking for some important stuff!! Good luck to you.
ReplyDeleteOh Tonya...I really feel for you. I hate moving! I'm happy where I am or if there must be a move, let it be without me...lol... You can exchange tips with Bonnie, since she just made a big move.
ReplyDeleteFlorida in January sounds wonderful, soak in all the sunshine you've missed out on for the last few months.
I know you will have a lot to do but I will miss your posts. Don't be gone too long.
And good luck with the book with Bonnie.
~~Fran...:c)
ps. funny...the word verification is restsact...lol
Wow-wie! I didn't know you were there short term...!! Packing, moving all that stash! not fun. But FLorida?, January? Lucky duck.
ReplyDeleteThere comes a time when most of us want to settle down and just have a place to put things and know we're not going to have to pack them up again. Yes a getting serious about quilting (I always thought you were very serious...in a wonky way) is a great motivator!Glad your husband agrees!
ReplyDeleteHi Tonya,
ReplyDeleteI have missed you! I am right her with you and the moving stuff. We do it every couple years. There is very little health care where we are right now, so I understand about having to wait until you get back to the States on that front too. Have fun in Florida!
A sunny beach in Florida sounds wonderful! I bet the cats will be glad that their international traveling days will be over, too.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear that you will have some sun in January! So,more serious about the quilting thing, eh?
ReplyDeleteMy posting has been lax, as well, but hopefully I'll get it together next week after I have more than one day off in a row...
Glad you are coming back home. Hope the move goes well for all of you (cats, too). Looking forward to what you come up with after things settle down. Keep moving on the book idea. It will be great with you and Bonnie working together.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're leaving Paris, but it sounds like you really want to move to sunnier, warmer climes. I have enjoyed all your facinating stories and pics of the places you've been. Getting serious with your quilting sounds like you want to turn it into a profession. Don't get burned out, you do gorgeous work and wouldn't want you to suffer. Wishing you the best. :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat news that you will be going home! There's no place to beat it, exotic and wonderful though other places can be. I don't envy you the packing though!
ReplyDeleteMy computer has been broken so I have not had a chance to stop by. Glad you be getting back to the u.s. I am getting close to finishing a hand quilting project and am so excited to have tomorrow to quilt.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteGreat quilting blog!
I was wondering if you were willing to add your site to our new BloggingQuilters.com website. It is a feed site where the blogs of quilters from all over the world can come together. It is a great way to increase the readership of your blog as well as for you read about other quilters.
Don't envy you the move (I haven't moved in over 30 years), but it is probably nice to do some purging. Love you site.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about going back home. I've been living overseas for years now and I feel exactly the same. Just another 8 months or so till I can put my luggage away for good. But I think I will miss, just a little, being a vagabond!
ReplyDeleteI've missed you, Tonya. Great news about you coming home!
