Kitties are doing what kitties do: lots of sleeping. Pokey and Habibi:
My sweetie and I went to the Louvre on 26th December. What a mistake. It was incredibly crowded - as bad as any day in the summertime, possibly worse. It was even crowded over in the Oriental Antiquities area, which is usually pretty quiet except for Egypt.
Here are some pics from a previous visit to Levantine antiquities. From the 9th century B.C. in what is now Syria:

Sweetie and I watched Ratatouille about the rat in Paris who loves to cook. I wanted to love it. Paris looks beautiful (and doggy-doo free) and I LOVED the cooking scenes in the kitchen, but the story petered out at the end. The Incredibles was superior. Anyway, I give it 4 out of 5 stars - definitely fun to watch.
We also watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which is always a hoot. I still have huge chunks of the dialogue memorized from repeated viewings while in high school.
The weather is horrible and overcast. I'm using a light visor to fight against my SAD tendencies, but don't think it's really working. When the sun is out, I'm happy and energetic and when it's not all I want to do is sleep on the couch. It's like the sun is my on/off switch. sigh.

Merry Christmas Tonya. Hope the sun is shining for you today!
And hand quilting over lots of seams IS a giant pain in the you-know-where!
I want to see Ratatouille even if it's just for the kitchen and Paris scenes. The Incredibles was an incredible movie and hard to beat. Happy New year and hopes for lots of sun in your life.
hope your patootie isn't too painful and hope the sunshine returns soon. happy stitching! and holidays of course.
Your handquilting over seams is beautiful, Tonya. I wish I could say the same for mine on HT - blech. Something I'm going to have to work on improving.
On the 24th I thought to myself, "Tonya would be so proud" because there I was handquilting and watching the Christmas marathon "hehe". I watched the Incredibles, too, and saw The Christmas Story for the very first (and last) time in my life and Shrek from beginning to end.
I have to scan something about the tent makers for you I saw in a recent magazine. The article was from Jenny. But the quilt they showed was beautiful!
I REALLY like the way the quilting is turning out - keep at it!
Merry Christmas (a few days late) Tonya! Love the quilting on the orphan train. It's looking fantastic. I have to agree with you about the weather though -- it's cloudy and snowing out and all I want to do is curl up on the couch and nap!
Happy New Year Tonya.
I wish you Sun, Love, & Joy for 2008!
Kitties know what is best! Sleeping! Wish I had some hand quilting to do. Wish I was further along on my Wonky! Wish you the best and look for more inspiration in the new year!
I can totally relate to your comment about the sun being your on/off switch. Here's hoping for a sunny start to your new year!
I can't believe we have yet another movie in common - I love Monty Python! We watched every single one of them in the original series, as they came on - I'll never forget crunchy frog and the sequence with the coffin. Not to mention the Knights of Knee. =)
I am totally with you and the sun love... it has been a damp grey winter here....when that sun is out for the 5 mintutes every couple of days, I feel like a cat trying to just soak it in and make it last. Best wishes to you!
I think that it is time for me to get on that hand quilting train!
Sorry---I fell asleep watching Ratatouille (still trying to catch up on my sleep!) Another time...I may like it...not this time. It has been rainy here in Eugene, OR, where we have been enjoying inlaw and grandparents' companies (both are in their 90s!) I managed to whip up more fingerless mitts. Now, I am working on "birds in the wood" decorative pillow case. Have a great day, Tonya. Blessings, Sarah
it's all about the hand quilting.
all my quilts (all 10 of them) have been hand sewn and hand quilted...and while it's a slow process, each stitch has been total happiness.
hey. you are a foreign wife.... if you want to exchange the good and the bad with other foreign wives... check out foreignwivesclub.com.... I hang out there a lot but there aren't any quilters to hang with...

I preferred Ratatouille to Incredibles myself. Thought the ending was great, didn't peter out at all for me. My two boys much prefer it as well and my 4yr old pretends to be Remy in his play kitchen all the time now!
Might be different I guess if I'd actually been to Paris, but I get my Paris fix vicareously through your blog.
