Kitties in Shadow

After my most recent ordeal with Pokey knocking my water all over the computer keyboard, I just had get some photos of her drinking out of my glass. I love the pics I can get when there is strong natural light AND a lot of shadow.

Pokey's latest trick is to drown her toys. First I found a wet ball of perle cotton laying on the floor. Since then I've discovered her pompoms and one of my socks floating in the cats' drinking bowl. (What does she care if that bowl is polluted - she doesn't like to drink out of it anyway.)
I've finished quilting the America With Flag little quilt and started quilting again on Liberty Blooms, which was just looking really pathetically bare to me. So more quilting it is. Have several quilts on the "to be bound" pile, but not much interest in taking care of them.

All that quilting took a toll on my right wrist and I had to take a break for a couple of days. I've been icing and anti-inflammatorying and all of that has helped too. Thankfully - I was a bit worried.
Had a wonderful day with my sweetheart yesterday. We had lunch at the food court of the Louvre (easy, fast, big variety, and they speak English) and took a quick trip in to see my beloved lamassu. You'll undoubtedly get pestered with more pictures of the same.
The Eurosport live audio on the internet (via Yahoo, the stinkers) fell apart for several days and I wasn't able to watch the Tour de France with any kind of enjoyment. Found another way yesterday to get the English-language commentary, so put the audio through the laptop on the coffee table and watched the action on tv. Wasn't synced up, but I was still a happy camper. It was going to be pretty ironic if moving to France was what led me to lose interest in the race.
Now that the Tour de France is in the mountains it's finally interesting. Time for Astana to dump Vinokourov as the lead GC contender and let Kloden do it - I think he has a much better chance. Discovery Channel looking weak and pathetic again this year. sigh.
Have I told ya'all that a Starbucks is going in on our street? Many blocks away, but our street nonetheless. Woohoo.

Another kitty in shadow, my beloved Lily:

I love seeing your cats! They are so cute. Any more marking issues?

Some stunning photography both of cats in shadow in this post and the stone masonry in the last - have ypu found a new medium for when your wrist is quilt-weary?

Beautiful pix of the cats, expecially Lily. The reason they put their toys in their water dish? It's because that is a constant, and they are putting their toys where they know they will be "safe". At least that's what my local vet told me when I asked why Bonnie insists on putting both hers (anything rubbery) and Clyde's (anything fleece or fur) in their upstairs water bowl. It's the only time she will touch his toys! LOL!
And I am rooting for Rasmussen on the Tour....

I think Lily could be on the cover of French Vogue! What a beauty! Your Pokey and my Mr. B would make tremendous TROUBLE together. Mr.B also drinks from glasses though he seems to prefer vino over H2O.

and the scarves!@ Gorgeous!

My son went to the premiere of the Simpsons movie which was held in Springfield VT. He gave it high praise. of course, he has never missed an episode in his young life!

What is lamassu?

Kitties are beautiful. Rudy puts his toys in the water bowl occasionally. Since their toys stand in for prey does this mean they want clean food?

I agree with SHaron. We keep all the toys in this kitty box they refused to sleep in, but they know exactly where they are and go find them all the time.

Pixel doesn't liek the water on the floor either, that's why we do the bowl on the counter. Now Noodle uses that one too and the one on the floor...but that boy is a camel!

Such pretty girls!

Hi Tonya, such pretty pictures! Great job of getting really great pictures of the girls! Love the scarves colors, columns, not so much. I'd like to touch them tho...does that count? Glad the wrist will be ok..that's pretty serious quilting to do that! My right shoulder is what gives out. Enjoy the sunshine! Hugs, Finn

Hey Tonya,
Yippee for Starbucks coming to your block. I love the mocha frappecinos on hot days.

I like to buy my own presents, too. That way I get what I want :)

Too cute pictures of the cats. I like hearing of your walks around Paris.

Marvelous kitty pics. They need printed and framed. Love the columns pics too. Pictures so nice to hold memories.

The cats look wonderful. Brownie and Goldie will only drink out of Macbeth's bowl...go figure. I can't believe he lets them! Yesterday Brownie stole his chew toy...laid right on top of it and wouldn't let him have it.

First off that last pic of Lily there, it's just gorgeous. I'd expect to see a pic like that on a glossy greeting card or a poster. It's really fabulous. As for the drinking out of the glass, Pokey looks too cute with the tongue poking out. You've made my morning, I have the giggles now.

beautiful photos of your kitties. I could never leave water on my headboard at night in a regular glass because my kitties would knock it on my head trying to drink out of it!!!
