Visionary Art Museum

Sorry for neglecting you all. A good friend was in town over the weekend and we had a great time eating out (Lebanese and French) as well as going to the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. Look at this magnet - isn't it just perfect for me?

I didn't love all the items on display but one artist in particular was loads of fun. Nancy Josephson uses lots of beads and sequins over taxidermy forms and urns - really appealed to the bright sparkly lover in me. The bear and ?gopher? were wearing fezzes, and that was a hoot as well.

I have not had tons of energy, I'm afraid to say. Don't know if it's cuz I'm recovering from surgery or don't have enough thyroid. I have been getting stuff done tho. Made arrangements to get down to Florida on the 16th of this month and have an appointment with an endocrinologist down there on the 21st. Trying to get some addresses changed and I'm sure there are all sorts of things I'm going to forget. Bit by bit, it will all get done.

To clarify my last post, my parents won't actually be down in Florida until January. That's a-ok, gonna have the cats's company for Christmas. I feel much sorrier for my husband who is going to be alone in a new place.

That magnet IS perfect for you! I may have to visit that museum next time I go to see my brother. He lives in Silver Spring. Thanks for your comment on my wall hanging. This time I used your tutorial and so it was much faster than my last attempt. I do want to figure out how to make them smaller though and I wasn't entirely happy with my "D", but I know it'll go more smoothly each time.

THe magnet is great. I'm sure the lack of energy is due to the combination ofthings you are currently dealing with. Your plate is pretty full. A quiet Christmas probably will be a good thing. In the end everything gets done one way or another.

What a hoot of a magnet.... I absolutely love Christams on my own -- no interuptions, no noise, no clutter.... almost like a planned blizzard day :-)

Surgery of any kind takes a whole lot out of you. You should be patient and kind with yourself. That hand reminds me of the old signs for palm readers. Feel better every day.

Had to laugh at the magnet! Glad you're finding things to make you smile during your recovery :-)

Thanks for the link. There's some truly interesting stuff in the exhibit pictures. It sounds as if you can at least swallow now, though, and are doing some more normal things. That's a great magnet!

Christmas on your own with just you and the kitties sounds great, Tonya...you can do lots of reading and movie-watching and not feel guilty about all the things you SHOULD be doing!

Feel sorry for your sweetie on his own, though. I hope you can communicate via e-mail and phone, though...

Just you, the cats, a quilt or two and the tv. What more could one ask for.

Love the magnet.

Oooooh! Lebanese food.

Looks like that museum is another of the multitude I need to see in the DC/Baltimore area.

Well, it not probably your first choice to have to do things this way, but you got it figured out and at least you have a plan. I don't know about your hubby, but most men whose wives stay home get used to having us do all the day to day stuff that takes so much time, so I will feel for him alone in the new city. My hubby would manage, but I would feel for him too. He likes me taking care of all the details while he focuses on working.

I'm sure your feeling tired is because of both reasons! Surgery takes a lot out of a body! It's got to be tough moving and trying to set up new doctor appts and all. I would be a mess! You are doing much better than I would. Hope they get everything done and scheduled quickly as possible. Make this new doc work at super quick pace...done done done!!! Got places to go!

Hope you feel better. Kiss the kittys... they will be fabulous company for you!

I've been quietly sending up little prayers for you, and one was that you be surrounded by the best of company, and it sounds like you are. Between your super friends and your sleek furry friends and your own great attitude you'll get thru this. And this too, shall pass.

Howdy,
I love that hand.
I woke up this morning wondering about how you're recovering. Glad you are up and out and about. There are a whole lot of us "out here" concerned for you during this "upheaval" in your life. Please write a post, albeit a brief one, letting us know how you are. If you're down and need moral support, we're here. If things go well and you need to share the joy, we're here.
Hugs,
Nellie

Glad to hear from you. What doesn't get done will let you know about it later and can be dealt with then. I bet someone adopts your hubby for a meal or two. My best to all.

I hope you have Internet access in Florida because I'll make sure I pop in and visit for Christmas. LOL Tracey

When I lived in Baltimore I was just around the corner from the Visionary Art Museum...the locals called it the convict art museum since so many of the pieces were done by incarcerated individuals...may be not politiclly corrrect but it was South Bal'imore!
