Anyone Else?

So glad ya'all are having fun with this quilt too. whatever the heck it's called. So far nothing has locked into place so I'll just call it Lego for now.

A block showing cupid fabric that Kim sent me ages ago, plus some other fabrics that should look familiar from the last few days.

An envelope in the mail yesterday from MC. Sorry the pictures turned out so lousy - late afternoon sun. I love the light colored bits in here - I really need those for this quilt. More busy florals (not made by Kaffe). oh yeah. And look the mysterious Howler as well as Habibi:

Thank you, MC! great letters and heart too!

One reason to start this quilt was to get fabric off of shelves, cut them up (10.5" squares for backs plus 2" squares plus these strips plus food for the crumb bin) and I've barely dipped into those. sigh, isn't that how it always turns out.

Anyway, I may still give it a go, esp if this does end up a king-sized quilt. So while I'm cutting strips, should I be cutting extra bits? Anyone else want uglies/unwanted/boring/dated bits from me to make their own Lego quilt (Inchworm quilt? Inch Madness?)

maybe this will give me incentive to DO it and not just talk about it.

ya'all take care. we have a lightning storm going on so time to sign off.

  1. LOVE the quilt you are working on - It's inspired me to make my own!

  2. I love this quilt! I would put the "dull sickly green on the far right that spreads sadness to whatever it's next to" next to a black print that is already in mourning! Seriously, regardless of individual beauty, or lack thereof, of the fabrics used, the overall look of the quilt is super!

  4. I'd be happy to take on a packet of your leftover "ugly" 2" strips and segments ... (told you I liked the look of yours - although mine will NOT be a king size!)

    Thanks!

  5. Okay, look Tonya, you are already cutting and piecing why not cut one of us a "kit" that we can add to from our own tonage of uglies and give it away......how fun would that be? and you'll also get rid of all the bits that you'll have left over!

I'd love the change to win :0)
Cause you know I just don't have enough uglies here on my own :0)

    Happy sewing

  6. Scraps??? Did I hear an offer of scraps??? I would absolutely LOVE to take some off your hands Tonya. I don't have even close to the amount of variety I need for a quilt I'm working on.

  7. Ugly/unwanted/boring/dated kinda sums up my stash. That's what I get for being a scrap quilter that gets other people's hand-me-downs. But I love the challenge of making something I like from lots of somethings that I don't like! So, if you do kit up some uglies, I'd be happy to take some off your hands. If you are still wanting more on your end, I can certainly send some off to you!

  9. Funny I found some ugly fabric and was coming to your blog to ask if you still wanted any, maybe I should give it a try!

  10. I mailed you some awfully uglies today. I am open to pretties, but then again, one quilter's uglies are another quilter's pretties :-)

  11. You know, when I saw your quilt I decided I want to make one of my own - so I've already resolved to cut 1-1/2" strips and try it. Now, if anyone else wanted to send me some of theirs, I certainly wouldn't be unhappy ;-)

"Two and two are four. Four and four are eight..." LOL

  12. I'm loving this idea! But what makes me sad is that I think I have a lot of those fabrics in my stash!
    Keep going, it looks great!

  13. I'm not sure if it's been suggested but I was thinking bric-a-brac would be a fun name. Play on the Lego brick and definitely a collection of scrappies.

  14. What about Leggo My Ugh-Os? Or Lego My Uglies. :) Whatever you name it, the quilt is very cool.

  16. Duh I still don't see those cupids......but I'll take your word you cut them up and they are in there.
What's that old commercial......"yeah its in there!"
That was some seriously UGLY fabric.

    Happy Sewing,

  17. You know me! Always open to fabric! I was going through my strips the other day to send you some, but thought if I hung onto them I could make my own Lego Bricks quilt. Any uglies will be given a good home :-))

  18. Looking at the quilt picture from Tuesday's post, I think of jelly beans - from a distance. I think if you look at it more closely, it does look like Legos.

Just another thought for a name...Jelly Bites? Jelly Bits?

Please do not send any fabric to my house!! I would be homeless in a flash. I do have some for you if you want a few more.

Take care! Love hearing from you more often!!!!!!!

Not sure about close up but the distance pictures remind me of going to the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, and seeing the Jackson Pollock "Mural"

  20. What a fun quilt! You will always be entranced by the variety of fabrics. I'm thinking of making one, but I don't seem to have as many interesting fabrics in my stash or dozens of fans to send me fabric. Chuckle! You'll still be getting some from me in about ten days. I'm al ways one of the last...

  21. The first name that pops into my head is Confetti..but that seems over used. Then I let my eyes kind of go out of focus...and it reminds me of pixels in a grainy picture. How about Pixels? Figures I could think of names of OTHER quilter work..but never my own!

  22. I think Lego is an excellent name for it!
I find this one especially appealing, but I'm not sure why.

  23. As per my view, that Lego is perfect name for it. You will always be entranced by the variety of fabrics. I am thinking of making one in this weekend. but I don't seem to have so many interesting fabrics in my stash or dozens of friends to send me fabric.

  24. I have boxes and boxes of Legos in my basment and this definitely looks like them. It also reminds me of a jar of jelly beans.

  25. The quilt you are working on is awesome and can 't wait to watch at the end of the result. It is inspired me to make my own.

  26. I created so many quilts but never used white colour. But after visiting your post, I got the idea of using white colours and various polka circle in background fabric, which is wonderful and looks very attractive.

  27. Love the square quilt. don't know about improvisational piecing? what is it? love to win the Word Play Quilts book. Happy Quilting
I quilt for a non profit organization MVOB in Ohio. This pattern would make some child in childrens services smile.
