Sewing Little Triangles.

I've been sewing. Woohoo! I'm ignoring all the UFOs and playing with this quilt for the Liberated Amish class just because I want to. Feels good. I'm working on an Ocean Waves (although it may morph)

I've been doing that rather than the desperately needed house cleaning. I am in the mood to sew and feel an almost compulsive need to do it. The rest of this post is about kitties, feel free to skip.

I have been fitting in trips to the vet. Lily cat had to go in to the vet Thursday night so she wouldn't eat any food or drink water in preparation for a teeth cleaning the next day. There was no way we could lock Lily away in a separate room all night. First off she'd have been scratching at the door and cheeping madly and then Habibi would undoubtedly have crashed at the door all night, throwing all his weight at the door handle - he does it enough times and he will eventually get that door open.

So it was good that Lily had the teeth cleaning. She had a vile condition and yet another bit of nastiness... Two of her teeth had to be extracted. If they'd been left in there the ickiness would have continued to spread throughout her teeth - just like happened to Howler who also suffered from this and is now down to three teeth.

Lily would have been in a lot of pain but showed absolutely no sign of it. And weight loss or signs of trouble eating? Not a bit of that - the girl gained four pounds over the last year. That must be down to the special high-carb/low protein diet all the cats are on because of Pokey's health. It's the anti-Atkins Diet or as my vet called it, The Fatkins Diet.

Anyway, Lily bounced back really quickly and is doing great. I'm hoping she's going to be sweeter now to the rest of the cats.

Feeling like a baaad kitty parent. Had no idea about all this. Habibi is the next kitty scheduled for a vet visit and teeth cleaning...

The reason I can actually get Habibi to the vet is that my husband is home for an all too brief visit - I can't manage the big cats on my own. Anyway, husband is at the beach - not to make everyone in the SNOW states jealous.

Taking pets to the vet is never my idea of fun either...

  3. I am working on some black and white broken dishes today. I want to use Gwen's method and put the on point which I normally hate to do. I am knee deep in triangles too! We had snow last weekend and this weekend it is very cold (well cold to me) and wet but not snowing. Not nice to be outside.

  11. I LOVE your triangles!!! Man, those colors look so good together...I just love looking at the picture and fantasizing about all the things you could do with them! I'm glad you are open to morph-ing. :o)

Good luck with your kitties! You are such a good momma...my husband and I were on the Atkins diet a few years back..."Fatkins" is actually a better name for it! LOL

Weasley is on the Wellness brand of cat food. He is a short haired orange/white beast of a boy (will be 4 years old on the 4th of July!). We started him on the Wellness because a friend of mine with lots of kitty experience suggested it (we are first time "kitty parents") and because it was supposed to be so naturally good at controlling hairballs, etc. We just leave it out and he takes what he wants. We are pretty clueless about whether all this is the best thing. He seems happy and healthy. We took him to the vet for 2 years of "well kitty" look-see's, but he has a terrible reaction to going to the vet and now I don't want to put him through it unless there is a good reason (he starts this labor-intensive panting while there, not to mention the constant meowing the whole way there). How often do you deal with getting their teeth cleaned?? I think he would hate me for that! LOL

In stitches (and petting the furry little sausage of a boy),
    Teresa :o)

  12. Many, many triangles! Looks great, too. By coincidence, I'm reading a fiction book right now called Ocean Waves! How funny. And we just got home from an unplanned vet trip outselves, with a sick doggie. She'll be OK, she picked up something from one of us, I guess, since she hasn't been anywhere. Gastro-...... well, use your imagination and be gross about it and you'll know what WE'VE been doing!

Have fun having fun and smack your hubby- I'd kill to be at the beach right now! Glad the kitty is A-OK!

  13. Oh, poor kitty! I'm glad she's on the mend.

Love those little triangles, but I'm afraid I'd go bonkers sewing them together!

My beach is covered with ice right now! The waves are coming up, smacking the ice wall, and bouncing off it. Pretty cool, actually. Or should I say, COLD? Actually it's usually September before Lake Superior is warm enough to swim in comfortably.

  14. Tonya, what size are you HSTs? Looks really great that size. I love hearing about your kitties. I have two (Jake and Elwood - named after the Blues Brothers) also and post liberally about them as well.

  16. I love those colors! Wonderful quilt. (Hey, I ordered Liberated Quiltmaking II today -- can't wait until it comes. I've only heard about the original Liberated Quiltmaking and had never seen a copy so I'm excited.)

The Egyptian cats we got in the mid-90's had major, major dental problems, and we didn't realize it until they'd been in pain for a while because they hid it so well. They had most of their teeth pulled about 10 years ago, poor little guys. (The one that's still alive is 18 years old, though, so it obviously hasn't slowed him down!)

  17. The triangles are beautiful. Fatkins....that is funny. Maybe that is Rusty's excuse. My little boy gained weight again. Keep us posted on the kitties.
Purrs and cuddles coming your way,
Deborah and Rusty (inside due to the pouring rain...beach?)
