Believe. Isn't it sweet? I love the yellow highlights along some of the letters. Theresa made the Hot quilt I showed you awhile back - she's very talented.
Okay, I know why some of you are really here. Not for the quilts or the fabric, just the kitties. It's been hard to get them to pose lately; it's been chilly and no one wants to leave their patch of sunshine. It's not the greatest pic, but here you go, Pokey along with a wonderful book called Amish Abstractions: Quilts from the Collection of Faith and Stephen Brown.
Speaking of books, I still haven't seen Liberated Quiltmaking II yet. I swear I would have broken and bought it at the bookstore today if they'd had it. Meanwhile I've gotten a couple of emails from folks who've got their copy and love it.
I'm finally getting my Chuck Season 2 on dvd. woohoo, love love love that show. Have to admit I'm thrilled that Jay Leno's show has been cancelled so we can get more scripted programming back on NBC where it belongs. I also hope that means Chuck won't get cancelled. It is a fun, light, escapist show with heart. Watch it, please. I'm recording season 3, can't wait to be caught up.
Okay, I've got lots of work to do. must quilt and watch tv, must quilt and watch tv. oh the hardship ;-)
Okay, enjoy the TV but I want to know when will YOUR book be available?
ReplyDeleteand only 4 days until the Australian OPEN.....yeah.
My husband is off to Australia tomorrow for 2 weeks of business.....he's really gonna miss our cold refreshing 20 degree days!
Happy Sewing
Love Chuck. The changes are a little off putting, but I think it will still be okay/
ReplyDeleteThe actor who plays Chuck is from my city, how's that for trivia, but I haven't watched it, sorry to say.
ReplyDeleteYour Pokey is in the position we call "Kitty loaf", as in loaf of bread. She looks very happy to be studying Amish quilting.
Love the believe quilt, great job she did with the free piecing.
My Liberated Quiltmaking II had been shipped from Amazon to me this week. I can't wait to get it. Good to see the kitten back again - Hugs Natima
ReplyDeleteI checked my mail today, I'm waiting for this book and 4 others that I ordered. I've been on a fabric diet, but I can't seem to slow down on the books ;-)
ReplyDeletePokey has his landing gear tucked in, according to DH.
ReplyDeleteThe Believe quilt is great. I loved doing your lettering, it was fun and a bit challenging for me, but worked out great. I can't wait until YOUR book comes out. :)
Nice quilt and glad to see Pokey looking so good. I loved the comment about the kitty landing gear being tucked in. That's great! I will have to remember that one.
ReplyDeleteWe always called cats with their little feeties tucked in like that "meatloaf cats." Don't know why, or where it came from!
ReplyDeletePokey has excellent taste in reading material. She really wants you to get LQ II, since she's been waiting eagerly for it!
I read your blog all the time but never seem to comment. Thanks for sharing this book. I have not yet seen this one. Have you see the Windham Gee's Bend Fabric? My husband gave me some as a gift and I bought more. I plan to make an hand quilted amish inspired quilt with it. I think I might need to check out that book. LOL.
ReplyDeletePokey looks great!
ReplyDeleteI finished a word block quilt thanks to your inspiration you can see it at
www.pasqualirumpus.blogspot.com
Thanks for the Inspiration Tonya.
I can't wait to buy your book.
My copy is on order, but hasn't arrived at Amazon France yet. Due here on or after 5 Feb - ack! Will ignore all blogs mentioning it until I get my hands on it.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at Laura's gorgeous Love quilt as I type this. Isn't it wonderful!
PS I took the bull by the horns and wrote to Gwen. I was so nervous I nearly funked it and the letter is dreadful!
My Liberated Quiltmaking II book arrived today from Amazon - earlier than I expected it! Yippee!! Every page is gorgeous and inspirational. Then there is a pretty little alphabet quilt on page 123 by a 40-something American living in Florida...Now I need 2 autographs for this book. Congrats! Gwen will be here in the Detroit area next Thursday giving a lecture and trunk show. The Gee's Bend Quilts are in an exhibit in Flint (about 40 miles north of Detroit)and the women will be there next weekend. Wow, so many things to do around here! Yea! Come visit Tonya!
ReplyDeleteYou are right..we love the cats :-)
ReplyDeletePokey looks very content. I'm glad he can find some sun to warm in. He's adorable.
I was so excited to get the email from Amazon today saying my book is on the way I CANNOT wait. Love the kitties!
ReplyDeleteI got home today from the Road to California quilt show to find my copy of Liberated Quiltmaking II waiting at my doorstep! With new fabric in my hands....how perfect is that?!? (and I couldn't agree with you more on the hopeful increase in scripted programming on tv, as that's how I make my living - and support my quilting hobby. But from what I hear, the network will *really* have to scramble to get scripted programming ready in time, so do all you can to support that as opposed to reality tv).
ReplyDeleteYou're right...some of us DO tune in to see pictures of the cats! Quilts too, of course...but oh those cats!
ReplyDeleteI brought my copy of Liberated Quilting home tonight!

I almost purchased that book last year. I can't wait to here your review.
ReplyDeleteTonya, I got my copy of Gwen's book, and I was thrilled to see one of your alphabet quilts featured in it. The book is attractive, and I particularly appreciate that Gwen's emphasis is on quilters designing their own quilts, not just copying patterns.
