Okay, okay, it's just a sculpture by Louise Bourgeois titled Maman. I'd actually seen it before at the Tate Modern, but it was so much more fun to see it at the Jardin des Tuileries.
That's the Louvre on the right.
Isn't it cool? I sooo wanted to break the rules and walk on the grass so that I could take great photos from underneath it. I just couldn't do it.
Doesn't Paris look gorgeous with the sunshine and flowers?
It looks so different from about 2 months ago when it was cold, grey, wet and windy. Did you get the horses too? Although I've got photos of Maman, they aren't as good as yours as the light was crap, and the ones I did take of the horses were awful.
What a surprise to see the spider on walkabout! I too saw her in the Tate, but she looks really happy to be in the open air! Let's hope she eats lots and lots of those annoying French flies!
Way cool. And it begs the question, how did it get from the Tate to the Tuileries? Does one put such a large sculpture on teh back of a wide-load truck? Or does it somehow disassemble? maybe it was transported by one of those helicopters that is open at the bottom...
I can almost picture myself there! Thanks for the pictures of Paris in the sunshine! Sure wish you could have gotten that pic from the underside of the spider though; that would have been cool.
Not cool! Scary! Arghhhhh. I Hate spiders. Not spiders in theory, who eat lots of other bugs and probably have excellent morals. ( I never kill them- I make my husband take them outside.) I hate up close and personal spiders and I never, ever want to have to see this thing again. Oook.
What a cool spider! I wonder how many Parisians are freaked by it? And doesn't it just kill you to not be able to go on the grass? When we lived in Germany, come spring all I wanted to do was run barefoot in the grass, and then to find out you may NOT step upon it! Torture! Thanks for the great sunshiny photos! (we STILL have rain!)
Paris is beautiful and that spider? Um -- yeah, cool sculpture but my fear of spiders doesn't let me really appreciate it :0). Love the new quilt -- and, hate to tell you that I think I agree with the addition of the blue. Some nice water to add to the Florida brights.
Paris looks beautiful. I watch those house hunters shows and whenever someone is looking to buy an apartment in Paris my ears perk up because you live there. They are always talking about this district and that district which wouldn't have made any sense to me until you had written about it. That's a neat sculpture.
That spider visited Copenhagen too, and I am sooooo afraid of spiders, I swear I almost panicked the first time I saw it! LOL! It's so darn huge.....and scary-looking!

ReplyDeleteCool spider! You would get whistled off the grass in a hurry. The Parisian grass police would be all over you. It happened to us.
ReplyDeleteThat's a big spider. Imagine how big the shoe to squish it with would have to be. :)
