The next three photos are details from the tomb of Etienne-Gaspard Roberts. My new camera with the 10x zoom lens is a blast to use.
More blue skies for today. I'm not sure I'm going to get any chores or sewing done. I need to go on another photo safari. Where to visit?
Oh, yesterday I did do a summary over on the Lazy Gal Winter Class, so you might want to check that out, especially if you signed up for the class and haven't finished your project yet. I'd love to know how you're doing.
Ratatouille won a BAFTA award yesterday, as did the French actress who plays Edith Piaf in Mome. She beat Kieran Knightly and Julie Christie. Woo hooo France!
ReplyDeleteMust get out there and take the camera for a walk. Weather is set fair for the rest of the week - cold but sunny!
Don't quilt but go and enjoy the weather!By the end of the week temp. is dropping again and it's still a long way 'till spring..
ReplyDeleteLove the pics, makes me want to hop in the car and drive to Paris..
enjoy the sunshine while its there!
ReplyDeleteI love your walks in the cemetary. Those skulls with the bats wings are making me smile (I know -- not everyone's cuppa -- but, oh, mine!). And the designs on some of the doors to the crypts?? Oooh --- I'm seeing quilt designs and maybe some applique (if I could do applique that is). Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHave fun in the sun and don't worry about what you get done -- get yourself feeling like getting something done first :0).
Love that red door. Great design ideas! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSuch great photos -- do you use a tripod with that zoom? Or do you have steady-as-a-rock hands?
ReplyDeleteLove the ratatouille car!
wonderful to see you pictures of pere lachaise with BLUE SKIES....one of my favorite places in paris. I think I've plugged it a bit on the mouse. did you kiss oscar's grave? (I didn't) but it's wild what people do there!!! great pics thanks.
ReplyDeleteThese tombs are so extravagant. Actually, I think it would have been better to spend the money on the living, such as health care or education, and make a more modest marker. But who am I to say? The artists who made these tombs have to eat too, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI love the circular iron work! And how fun is that car!
ReplyDeleteFirst thing that comes to mind is what wonderful nooks, crannies, holes, stones to hide a cache! hehe. Forget the quilting. Enjoy the sun.
ReplyDeleteThat car is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI love your cemetary pictures. I know some people find it weird, but I could spend hours in almost any cemetary, but especially old ones, where there is all kinds of artwork and sayings on the tombstones. In fact, I spent about an hour in a tiny one on top of a hill in Tennesee, just looking and wondering and reading. Thank you for the pictures, the artwork is phenomenal.
I love all you pictures, but the last two are my favorites. I love seeing cars painted with these kinds of themes! AND the Smart Car....I think it's on its way to becoming a classic! I want one! :o)
ReplyDeleteDo you have any idea how they got the color over the doorway on the Famille Gallois tomb? (the one with the urn and birds and leaves) Is it painted?
ReplyDeleteA person could do a whole series of art quilts based on monuments and decorations in this one cemetary! Do you have any idea how much I LOVE those skulls with the bat wings??!!! TOO COOL!!!
The grill works are gorgeous...
To heck with the Eiffel Tower. If I ever make it to Paris *I'm* going to the cemetary!
Hey there...
ReplyDeleteYou always take the pictures that I think I would take...I loved the heads with the wings coming out as well as the nouveau cutout work...and the Family Gallious...LOVE IT! I am enjoying your quilts too...that house one is very intriguing (SP?)Thanks!
