Way back in October I gave you a glimpse of my purple cat embroidery. Well, I did a second embroidery, again with a purple cat, that a friend fell in love with. So this was my gift to her for Christmas. Hope she really does love it and wasn't just being nice. I gave it to her unfinished like this so that if she wants to block it straight she can - I'd probably let it stay a bit skeewampus. As in, yes, this picture is true to life - it really is all crooked like this.
I learned the technique from Sue Dove's "Painting with Stitches" which I highly recommend. Very simple to do - it's just 6-strands of embroidery floss over needlepoint canvas. She gives you ideas on how to design your own (as I did) or you can use her patterns.
Today I finished the quilting on Noel and got the binding machined on. Should have it finished tomorrow. I was all set to watch an old Joan Crawford movie on TCM when I got a call from my hairdresser. D'oh - I made it only ten minutes late.
You continue to amaze me with the stuff you do! I"m not big into cats - but is is really cool how the stitches make the motion. And I LOVE the palm tree!
ReplyDeleteLove Purple Cat #2...he/she is just evil enough looking to be interesting and just sweet enough to be loveable..*VBG* Love the way the stitches reflect the light. I think your friend will be pleased!!! Love the palm tree and fishy..great piece!
