If you haven't tried brown and wild rice mixed together, which is usually sold in bulk, then please do! We put it into the rice cooker and it smells wonderful and tastes even better. And very healthy!

I"m so glad I found your blog. I need some excitement in my quilting life and aaahhh, I found it!
Anyone I talk to about my desire to quilt outside the geometric box gives me a "huh?" look. So nice to know that I'm not entirely crazy.

I'm sympathetic about the hot flushes, but not too sympathetic about hand quilting being too hot in Florida! In the UK the weather is just cold enough to enjoy a quilt on your lap to sew!

I'm so glad to hear that you're finally starting to feel like yourself again. Surgery is so hard on a person. After a month, I'm finally starting to feel better too, and mine was not nearly as tough as yours. (Like Fabric Fanatic said, at 58, I don't bounce back so good!) I'm glad to hear that Pokey is doing better too! She's looking beautiful.

Thank you for the link to order Gwen's book. DH just asked me what I want for my birthday, and now I know what to tell him! I'm so excited about this book. . . I agree with the "Whoo Hoo"! And also that Gwen thinks you're Liberated. . . that's so cool! She is a wonderful person.

As far as the quilting, could you work at a table, putting the quilt on the table instead of on you? That's what I did when I lived in So. Cal. I also aimed the A/C right on me! Those hot flashes aren't gonna stop real soon. . . at least, not based on my experience! Good luck!

So good to hear you sounding like YOU! I think you've turned the corner. I was surprised when I had surgery at 58 how long it took me to come back to me. It made me have a real appreciation of what I took for granted when I was in my 20/30/40's...LOL.

I'm useless on copyright law. Does that mean that the "Liberated" word in the web ring and the Yahoo! group is subject to Gwen's copyright?

I'd do anything to get to a BIQR, but unfortunately it will have to remain a dream.

I agree with stichinpenny. A walk a day, even if it's 10 minutes round the block, helps, but you and I are so alike when it comes to laziness so you'll probably do I what do - think about it for 10 minutes before getting back to the sewing LOL!

Woo hoo - HH is being quilted on the kitchen table. Like Slither Eek Boo, it weighs a ton and has to be turned every 3 minutes or so.

That last photo of Little Pokey is gorgeous.

Thanks for the heads-up about ordering the book directly from Gwen! I am SO looking forward to this book. I actually own TWO copies of Liberated Quiltmaking--a hardcover for "keeping" and a softcover for "using." She is my idol, too!

I really enjoy checking in on you, your projects and your blog. Thank you for the inspiration. I have big plans to take a leap and make some words...I think they are fantastic and so creative.

Thank you for the info about Gwen. When I lived in Galveston, TX 16-17 years ago, she did a trunk show for our small guild. She came down to talk to one of the bigger Houston area guilds, and we were lucky enough to share her expenses and have her talk to us, too. She was wonderful! I live on the other side of the state from her, and should definitely treat myself to a retreat with her. I don't do "Loreal," but I think Im worth a retreat at some point!
