Architecture in Helsinki

I've been sewing blocks in my solid Amishy fabrics and getting some progress made. Of course I haven't put away the fabrics from the last several quilts I've pondered or actually completed. My sewing area, as usual, is a mess.

Lily refuses to look.

This isn't the kind of thing I usually do, but I love this video for "Like it or Not" from the band Architecture in Helsinki. There is nothing in here about architecture nor Helsinki. But it does have the coolest animated embroidery I've ever seen. Lions, flamingos, palm trees, it's wonderful. If you don't like the music (which all of you won't) then watch with the audio off. It's really fun:

Just came across your blog and see you are an avid quilter such as I. I took a beginner's quilting course about 12 years ago and have really had fun quilting ever since. Your vimeo on Architecture in Helsinki was just the cutest. Your sewing room looks almost the same as mine, but what the heck, we are too busy quilting to put everything in its proper place.

What fun!!! I can't imagine how they do that. Loved the water, especially when it splashed. Very clever.

Someone has waaaaaay too much time on their hands to create that amazing video... wow! Loved the rubik cube hot air balloons (and a lot of other bits). Thanks for sharing!!!!!

Hard to pick a favorite part of this video - the mournful coconuts, the luchadors playing ping-pong, the rubix cube balloons - so surreal and incredibly detailed. Wouldn't it be cool to wee some of the embroidery left over from this production?

hi Tonya ! Love your blog. I’ve heard so many good things about you from Sarah / krommama. My first quilt was a liberated house quilt done while obsessing over Gwen’s Liberated Quilting book. So I love that style.I'll have to post a pic of it on my flickr soon. Right now though I’m going in to the sewing room to play with your alphabet ideas ! thanks for stopping by my blog !
ps. that video was amazing :0)
and I love your kitties !

Wow Tonya, your sewing room is really a mess..

I guess Picaso never left any brushes or pots of paint lying around either.

What the heck YOU are also an artist and as such you are focused on creating not cleaning the creative studio. he-he-he,

If we're all honest none of us have the perfect , tidy, spotless sewing room. Mine looks like that little tornado in the video has blown through it most time. Once in awhile when I've lost my last pair of scissors, I'll get serious and start straightening things out, but darn it, there always comes new ideas and projects to get in the way.

You just continue making those great quilts and don't worry about mundane things like a few yards of fabics lying around.

~~Fran :c)

Thank-you for sharing that video. The embroidery is fantastic.Whover did the embroidery for the animation must be super patient and so creative, must have taken ages.

Can't load the video (sniff), but I got as far as the palm trees. Great embroidery.

Snap! Fabric and cats all over the place. Have just dug out some black from the depths for a binding - covered in cat hair!

Coming out of hibernation and ready to start sewing again :-)

enjoyed the music and the video- you do track down the most interesting links to share! guess if you can live with your knee until you are back in the States, that works. I just cleaned up the mess on my sewing table, but dumped all that extra pulled fabric into a heap in the fabric room! oh well-at least it is out of my way for now.
