Hermes Colorful India

The Hermes store on Rue du Faubourg St-Honore has the most gorgeously decorated windows in Paris. Here's the little dude on top of the building. I always think of him as Napoleon. Oh and yes, there should be all sorts of accent marks on those letters, but you'll just have to imagine them.

India seems to be the theme for this year. It was extremely colorful India in May when I took these photos. Whoever does their windows just does an incredible job. Plus there's music piped over the speakers to enhance the experience.

Love the antique horses and that pink and orange zigzag rug.

These displays in particular caught my eye because of the bundles of floss and yarn.

I totally love the black and ivory marble(?) frames they used. Just to give you an idea of the prices in the store, I think this teacup was 160 euros... Just one teacup.

It's too bad window displays are so hard to photograph, but at least you get an idea of what it looked like. I love the outside of the store, but inside? I made it about two steps in before fleeing - way too richy rich for my taste.

Oh to be rich! Still I think I rather look at all those expensive items than care for them. Gorgeous displays.

Hermes, Hermes, Hermes. Ah, if only we were all richy rich! LOL

My god those colours are amazing. Thanks for posting these pix - we get nothing like this here in good old Aus!

you can sure tell what I've been reading because my brain read Kermes rather than Hermes and I thought "oh goody a store devoted to red!"; I then found a lot of "pink/red/orange" and thought, huh, I've thought Kermes was a darker red than that -- Only near the end did I get my brain's error, and that you were at HERMES! Duh. I really must finish up a "a perfect red" and get on to other reading...

Love those black and white marble frames!! Wow, wouldn't that be a gorgeous applique quilt?? But, I won't be doing it! *smile* Thanks for sharing - what a beautiful window display, and as always, your photos are great!

Beautiful pictures and gorgeous colors. But I know what you mean about not wandering too far into the store.
We have a little town close to here that is called Strathford. It is a Shakespear heaven, theaters, museum, art galaries ad nauseum. I walked into one of the stores on the main street with my daughter. It was an antique store. There was a lovely round table that I pointed out to my daughter that may have looked good in her Dining room. The clerk came ove and with his nose in the air informed us that.."Madam, this is a 17(something) cherry wood table, and please don't touch it. It is priced at $23.000 dollars" I raised my nose right back at him and said "on consideration we
feel that since the chairs did not match we were not interested!";-)then we walked out.
That said I would give
my left leg to even window shop in Hermes.:cD

As always :c)...smiles Fran

Ooooo! That could cause severe sensory overload! Wonderful colors & textures. Is this where you get your quilt inspiration? Thanks!

Gorgeous! Must check out the Hermes store here in London to see if they have a similar theme. Am looking forward to some "serious" window-looking on Faubourg St Honore next time I'm in Paris. "It doesn't cost anything to look" as my mother always said.

Beautiful, evocative displays. It doesn't cost anything to look, right? Long ago I used to have some Hermes cologne... A very tiny bottle.

it is interesting, since i work in the textile industry that since a lot of retailers are producing garments in india because of cost....there has been a new appreciation of the color and tradition there, a side effect of business travel.

The horses are great! I'd love to have either one in my house . . . if I had a house. =) The sandals look like such fun to wear! The colors seem pure Tonya.
