My brain has just been elsewhere lately. I've been struggling over the book. You know, The Book. The one that I'm finally going to write with the letter instructions etc. You've been hearing me say that for years, so your skepticism is understandable. But really, it's back on the front burner again. At least in my brain.
I'm making decisions. What techniques go in the first book, which get saved for the second.... I've been having some fun playing lately with the string diamonds and 9-Patches, but they need to go in the second book and I need to focus on letters more.
And then there's the conundrum of "how much to blog?" Just enough to keep your interest but not enough to give the game away. Just please bear with me.
You'll hear about The Book more as things get jelled and I can reveal tidbits. Sorry, this isn't just me being mysterious, but also indecisive. I have the worst problems making my mind up about things, add that to the procrastination and you have trouble...
On other matters, life is good. Some hotter weather and sunshine yesterday - woohoo. You know how that makes me happy even if I am just running errands. Nothing new going on here, pretty much same old, same old. Ya'll take care.

I totally understand.

I've been thinking you should write a book. You really should.
those are neat photos...have you tried making a photo collage of them in picasa? it might make an interesting photo quilt! too bad there isn't a sashing option in picasa, ha!
So that's why the buildings in Evesham are so lovely -- otherwise, who would take their eyes off the street?
A book is such hard work, but we can hardly wait! Sign me up for an autographed copy!
How lovely to see the cobbles through someone else's eyes. We have so much of that sort of thing in England that you get used to them and don't 'look' often enough. I look forward to the book - I'm sure you'll be able to sell plenty.
Whatever you do, enjoy the process. Pondering, writing, photographing, sorting, deleting, rearranging (not only the pieces but your thinking)... you have SO much to share and I'm excited for you!
Oh Tonya, I'm thrilled. At long long last - and I never got that guest quilt done either!
It's going to be a bit of a haul, but it will be worth it in the end.
Doing the happy dance for you.
What inspiring photographs, thanks for sharing them. Good luck with the book, I hope it comes together quickly and beautifully.
It's amazing how many designs you can can see in nature ( The Master Designer is something, isn't He!) What an interesting world we live in.
Excited to hear the book is happening! I will be first in line to buy it. We all know it will be just wonderful like you.
Looking forward to the book. Reserve me a copy please.
And here I thought that I was the only one to take pictures of cobblestone streets. Book...YES, you need to. Or should I say the quilting world needs you too. More interesting books MUST be made...and I like your view of things. Because it is not my book, I say, don't lose too much energy over the minutiae, keep the big picture in mind and I don't think you will go wrong (how it that for a bit trite?) Seriously, we, quilters, need your perspective!
I too procrastinate a lot and re-think and re-think...slows the whole thing down I know. great photos..and I too am one of those who look forward to purchasing an autographed copy- whenever it happens.
What great photos of the cobblestones! I thought it was just my sister and me that took pictures of rock walls, cobblestones and the like! They're very quilt-like, in a way. Inspiring and thought-provoking.
Yay! You're finally gonna do the book! You are an inspiration to many quilters, you know. I love your letters, and can't wait to do more of them. Good luck with the decisions. It can be toughest part. We're all rooting for you!
Tonya, It's wonderful to read that you're working on the book! When I saw that fab Halloween quilt, I was knocked out--then letters, too? Wow. I sympathize, procrastination drives me crazy, but getting out of my own way is really hard sometimes. No sewing today; I'm off to Pittsburgh to get my car worked on. Hope y'all all have a great day! Nancy
Your book will be a great success and I can hardly wait to see it come out!
Oh Tonya, a book ~ how exciting! I've been quilting long enough to have seen books on the same subjects written over and over again. But yours will be delightfully unique. As a longtime quilter, teacher, and proof reader of professional designers' quilt projects, I give you my wholehearted vote of confidence! You know your stuff, girl, and have a talent for clearly conveying it to others. Your quilts are fun, funky and incredibly inspiring. If you need a pep talk or proof reading during the process, just e-mail me. Banish self doubt. You can and should write a book!
