Memory

Another glimpse of the freehand fan quilting on Orphan Train. This block, called Memory, is above my name on the right side of the quilt.

This is another block from Quilts! Quilts!! Quilts!!! I chose it in particular to learn to piece these Y-seams that seemed to be so important in quilting. Ha! Anyway, I noticed one of the seams coming apart while I was quilting this so I appliqued the pieces down and I hope that takes care of it.

Very nice Y seam. How did you get it so nice and even? Really like the colors too.

I always avoid Y seams, I try and find some way around them. Your quilts are all so interesting. I love the free form that you do.

isn't it amazing how the techniques considered critical change as a quilter gains experience....

I love your hand quilting. I looked back through previous posts to find the one that shows the back. Very nice! You've inspired me to do free-hand fans on my linen quilt.

As usual, another quilt in the colors that I love. The hand quilting is great, too. Is there anything that you don't do well?

Can't many y-seams can be avoided by using other techniques--like HST's instead of those diamonds and the big triangle? I really love your color choices. The pink fabric with black swirls looks great in this block.

Great block and colors but gee wizzzz look at that quilting!!! I love that. Freehand meaning "hand" quilting (I do enjoy that) or machine free hand?

Wow!

I love this block and it's wonderful in these colors. I put a little Y-seam tutorial on my blog, in case that's of any help. New at it myself, but i think i've worked out a good method.

oh, the tutorial is under Tumbling Blocks, or Y seams in the labels index.
