I had completely forgotten about how I'd started working on the previous quilt until ya'all reminded me. Yes, the colors are Christmasy. That was the whole reason I'd bought that novelty fabric - I wanted to make some quilts that would work to span the Halloween and Christmas seasons.
Scary Christmas - Happy Boo Year has a big chunk of the focus fabric and then has the words around it. It's quilted in the usual freehand fans. It's a lousy photo. The real quilt will hopefully be on its way across the Atlantic Ocean soon.
I then wanted to make a houses quilt to go along with this one. So I fussy cut creatures to go in the doors and windows of my houses, which I'd then make out of non-holiday fabrics as well as some Christmas prints. I made about four houses before deciding it wasn't working at all. I used the remaining doors and windows and the non-Christmas fabrics to make Crimson Halloween.
I watched a silly movie yesterday: Virus with Jamie Lee Curtis (strong Ripley-esque woman in the first half and Queen of Scream in the second) and Donald Sutherland chewing scenery. Silly movies are just easier for me to rewatch than serious ones. Plus they're easier to quilt to.

Hi Tonya, I quilt to movies I've watched before so I don't have to concentrate. I'm a big Cary Grant fan as I notice you may be, I watched Penny Serenade the other day-that was quite deep for that era, have you seen it? Anyway, I'll go now and look at more of your stuff. Cheers
Me again, went back to your start, loving the free pieced letters and the fact that you were watching the Gilmore girls then as well!! When on a good thing....
no piecing energy huh? I agree with you about not gambling on getting your machine back in time-I am still waiting on my gem to get repaired. But, it's not my use everyday machine, so no worries about when it's coming home. I can't add to your list of Halloween words-seems plenty to me. I think this various "fonts" idea is terrific-creative and fun idea. Good that you are gaining on the cranky witch hand quilting...looking forward to seeing that one.
Love the multi-holiday wall hangings!
I am in awe of the way you come up with things. I may never make them, but I love looking at them. It's been a while, so I'm catching up-hope you feel better, and also that you get the apt. you're waiting for...
I love Crimson Halloween! And love all those words you have come up with for practicing your new fonts. It's always such fun to see what you have created. Hope you feel better soon. And hope for good results from the biopsy.
You are right about movies while quilting. I can't give quilting enough attention if I am watching something profound and don't even think about reading subtitles and quilting. That leads to bloodshed.
isn't Virus just a scream! To think it was seriously supposed to be scary...
What a lovely word play. I'm a sucker for puns. =)
This was my first visit to your site. Great quilt by the way. I feel bad. I made a halloween quilt a couple years ago and haven't made another one. I really needed to say hello because of what you said about quilting to movies. I DO THAT TOO. Hubby rents a movie, and I sit downstairs and listen to it while I quilt. I get to look up when there's something I want to see, and the bonus is there is no guilt involved about sitting around doing nothing. I get through at least half a dozen quilts a year this way.
What a great quilt! You come up with the best sayings!
Either I'm doing something wrong or blogger and your blog are not showing up for me. Maybe I'm hitting the actual post in bloglines...I saw Crimson Halloween for about a week and missed the next 3 posts?? Then I saw Alien invasion.. Weird huh? I'll have to be more careful.
Hubby wouldn't like my collection of Adam Sandler movies huh?? Those are just stupidly funny! I never thought about washing fabrics before I put them away, but I don't have allergies. Some I don't wash at all, like for wallhangings I don't plan to ever wash. But if might be nice to not have to wash all of them before starting a quilt! That part sucks.
I do like the halloween sounds idea!
