See, I'm still quilting

I've quilted some more terms of endearment on the quilt of the same name. I wasn't initially sure I was going to quilt terms in this reddy-pink with purple fabric on the other side of Abominables, but I've been having so much fun with this part of the quilting I decided to go for it.

I used the same floss color as on the other side and no, it doesn't show up well, but that's okay. Sometimes I want things to pop out and sometimes to only be noticeable upon closer inspection. You can see my chalk marks still, but not to worry. As the quilt continues to get handled they'll rub off and will definitely disappear in the wash.

And here's another area. I quilted in the big long bit of red. Once again, that wasn't in my game plan, but I wanted "cutie patootie" somewhere and it fit here. Can you see the chalk marks of my initial lettering? I wrote the whole phrase out and discovered that I had loads more space on the right hand side, so I rubbed chalk off and rewrote it, this time moving the letters to the right some.

I don't put many pins in during the initial baste, or at least not as many as I need. I don't have enough safety pins. As soon as I get ready to quilt in an area, I put loads more pins in. You can still see them clustered around the bottom of the block I was working on. I'll take those extras out and move them to the next spot I'm quilting.

Nothing new or exciting of note here. I get to dump out and replace all the kitty litter today - oh joy. My nose tells me it needs to be done, so no more procrastinating.

Hey Ton, the quilting is looking really fabulous! I like your thinking....the "not everything as noticable as everything else.

Ages and ages ago I came across a sentence in a story. I don't remember what the story was(it was in the New Yorker mag), but I've never forgotten the line...
"and the unicorn in the tapestry, not for every eye is he there". And I added that to my life philsophy....not every eye sees what is there, and that is just as it should be.

Excellent wording and stitching, as usual. I like your writing style. I like that not everything pops out as much, plus once the chalk goes away it might be more visable!

Today I am starting my lowercase letters for my border! Pictures to come!

I love how you quilt words into your quilts. I have done that on the long arm(I don't own one, but a very close freind does). I "quilted" in "I love you", her name and the date in the huge bright pink quilt for my dd. And names and dates in a couple of wedding gifts, too. But your hand quilting looks tons better than what I had done. So cute!

Wow, you know how to have a good time - cleaning kitty litter! Your terms quilt is just so fun! You sure are Maverick! I just love seeing what you are going to do next!

When you get done with YOUR litterboxes, you can come do mine. :)

I love quilts where there's both 'Jump out and Grab you' kind of features (sometimes it's the blocks, the patterns, the colors) AND then as you look at it you see more, the quilting, a secondary pattern, subtle color play, etc.

A lady at guild that's really cat crazy puts a cat in EVERY quilt. Often a whole cat block, but sometimes it's a teeny bit of cat fabric, sometimes a small quilted kitty face hiding in a corner that nobody'll ever notice unless she tells them. I kinda like that - imho, it adds to the whimsy of the quilts she does. :)

It's good to leave some bits for closer inspection. Adds texture and layers to an already amazingly eye-popping quilt!

And I'm still laughing about you leaving us with such an ahem inspiring thought!!! LOL

It's great to have some subtlty (is that how you spell that word?) in an eye-popping quilt.

Been so enjoying your letter tutorials- they are so adorable I just want to reach out and pinch them! Mine look like their much earlier on the evolutionary scale relatives- you know, the kind with the heavy brows and prominant bottom lips... oh well, I'll keep trying!
